Thanks for your perspective. The 120-year-thing you saw coming was alluded to in a study article dealing with the divine warning given in Noah's day in the Dec.15, 2003 Watchtower.

ray franz mentioned in crisis of conscience that in 1980 schroeder, klein, and suiter proposed changing the start of "this generation" from 1914 to 1957. as the "this generation" doctrine has since mysteriously morphed any date associated with it is moot.
however, as time marches on without the developments anticipated by the gb may they again pick a new year, this time for the invisible enthronement of christ, in an attempt to buy time and regain credibility?
what dates or historical events would be likely choices?

an elder friend just asked me the most simple question.. "if you had all the power, would you still let the world be like this?"..
i answered "of course not".. then he just said "hmmm"..
..........seems to me, he may be questioning jehovah, "all the power" & the "promises from the wtb&ts..........imo

That's exactly what I'm getting from the story as well. I think your elder friend might be having doubts.
Hoping he can see the light,

i am sure i could apply my speculations to other countries, but i know the usa, so i am .
being specific about pioneers in the usa.. the pressure to pioneer instead of marrying or raising a family (or both) was considerable in .
armageddon was coming, afterall.
What do you think will happen to pioneers in the near to distant future?
They'll die impoverished and broken-hearted.

i was thinking about this last night and after reading the previous topic about the gb believing or not it has me thinking again.
i am continually amazed at how a "new" religion can cause ones to abandon all previous beliefs and they are never questioned again.
i am third generation.

....And, most of the time they get people in at their weakest point in life.
The sad part of it is that they don't hide this fact. How often did we hear that we should persist in the ministry because even if they're not interested today they may have a death in the family, lose a job, fall gravely ill, etc. and then be interested in something better? How did I not see this for what it is? We were actually trained to seek out the marginalized.
Glad to be free,

have only just started posting on here.
read everyone elses though ... :-).
as some of you may know, i've just got my divorce through.
Hello KCM,
IMPORTANT:
A little known fact: the elders are directed as per a letter from CCJWs to never tell a publisher if they have grounds or not for a divorce. This is somewhat recent and for legal reasons. Apparently some elders told the wife of an abusive husband that she did not have grounds for a divorce and in the end she was murdered by him.
i was just wondering why people fade instead of just quitting right away.
going inactive isn't enough to get dfed, is it?
i was never dfed, though my meeting attendance had been on again off again for months before hand.
Hello Isaac,
To echo what lump and dob said, the majority of faders would probably love to get it over with immediately if not sooner. The fade is all about consideration for others- family, friends, business connections. It's a tragedy that such a tactic is needed. But that's just another sure sign of a cult- you can't just walk away when you're not feeling it anymore.

Hello 5th,
An elder friend just asked me the most simple question.
"If you had all the power, would you still let the world be like this?".
I answered "of course NOT".
Then he just said "hmmm".
Sounds like there may be hope for your elder friend. I hope he finds his way out of the maze before it sucks the life out of him.
Confident that more are waking up everyday,

many of us who were once jehovah's witnesses had a measure of happiness in our lives.
for me, i had a hope in the future, i had answers as to why we are all here, i believed in a loving god who looked after me and cared about me, i had answers to all of lifes big questions.. when i found out the truth about the witnesses, i was lost in a great big world and now had no answers other than the fact that what i once believed was "the truth" in actuality wasn't the truth.i now had to start all over in my search for truth.
for me, it wasn't long before i found what i thought was the truth since i always believed in the bible.
Thanks unconfused for simplifying what so many religions and individuals have fought over for centuries.
If the Bible is true, all we can really really do is try to be a good a person as we can be and let the rest go.
And if it isn't true, your plan works just as well.

Hello outoftheorg?,
Thanks for your story.
I am doing well and happier than ever leading a good life.
I'm glad for your success. I enjoyed your comment about your subconscious mind. It would appear that it's always there looking out for us, sometimes we're just not prepared to listen.

Hello under-believer,
I deeply appreciate your sharing this gem. These three paragraphs are more thought-provoking and humbling than all the WT literature ever produced combined.
Thankful,
