nu 31:17-18 moses, following the lord's command, orders the israelites to kill all the midianite male children and "... every woman who has known man ...." (note: how would it be determined which women had known men?
one can only speculate.
dt 21:10-13 with the lord's approval, the israelites are allowed to take "beautiful women" from the enemy camp to be their captive wives.
Thanks for your reply Mad,
And especially I appreciate the agape! I want you to understand something about me because I have respect for you. I have sincere questions and doubts about God but I would never want to give the impression of irreverence, if only out of respect for those who do believe. I have prayed to Jehovah on hands and knees, pouring my heart out, looking for answers to certain injustices and inconsistencies I observed as an elder. I honestly feel that I received no answer of any sort. Now I feel a peace of mind. I am responsible for my success and my failure. I don't say this so as to reject God, simply to carry on where I feel I must. If you were to know me in "real" life you would know that I'm a very thankful and grateful person. If there's one thing I hate it's arrogance, so I assume that no one owes me anything. Therefore, I love whatever I get from anyone in the way of respect, dignity, love, etc. I hope to find some answers on the road that is life. I just simply could no longer be satisfied with the explanation of reality as provided by the Governing Body. If God is up there and He loves me, He'll know what to do. If He should decide to vaporize me that's ok too. If He's God He can do as He pleases.
Love and respect to you Brother Mad Brother,

Welcome tm123,
Will this be the last time? WILL this be the last time?"
They've been asking questions like that for over 100 years. It's a trick one plays on one's self to stay motivated.
Sounds like you might like this recent thread about the flood:

i don't think i am an apostate, but do feel like one for being on these boards as we were always warned not to at the meetings etc.. i disagree with so many things they teach, the main thing is the blood issue....being a new auntie, i love my niece soooo much and if i were the only person that could save her, how on earth could i not?
i'd be blood guilty for not saving her!!!!!
that in my books, would be murder.. however, may be it's because i've only been away from the mtgs for a year, but i still think of it most days and although i feel i've made the right decision as nothing was making me happy in it, and obvioulsy my ex beating me and getting away with it.....i still feel a certain pull towards it and a kind of insane loyalty???.
Thanks for your reply Mad,
I understand your concern about the hatred that is sometimes evident on here. Perhaps I've even spit a little venom myself. If so, I'm not proud of that. But hatred is, unfortunately, everywhere. Many here genuinely observed hatred in certain teachings and actions they were exposed to while active Witnesses. Some are aware of examples of extreme hypocrisy within the organization. By the way, the WTS itself popularized that term(organization) with reference to the religion. Many simply feel hurt and disappointed about the less than forthcoming behavior that has often characterized the leadership of Jehovah's Witnesses(and by leadership I'm speaking of humans). I do find it amazing that you have found a way to justify your presence here, in spite of repeated, direct counsel from the Governing Body.

i was talking to a pioneer yesterday; he was all excited over the new memorial tract, said how nice it looked.
he commented that the "society said we don't have to take not-at-homes for this campaign.".
i asked him what he thought of the campaigns and the fact that we have a convention campaign coming up soon.
I was wondering why this tract/flyer doesn't have the usual coupon on the back for literature/home Bible study. They usually do with these types of campaigns, whether the Kingdom News or last year's District Convention invites.
As it's been alluded to, the tracts aren't really for the householders. They're designed for lovingly provided to the Kingdom proclaimers
to give their lives purpose until the "real life" begins in the new system of things. Besides, coupons mean increased postage and we all
know nothing good can come from that.

P.S.-Jeff, I noticed you've been mentioning unclean and ungodly forms of intimate relations with some frequency today. Is there something you'd like to share with us?
i was thinking of this the other day.
though i am not christian or any other religion, and at times even question the validity of god (which becomes more appearent with all the shit that goes on in this world every day), i stopped and thought, what if?
what if after this life those who did not believe in a higher power, ie god, go to meet this maker.
What could a true, all-powerful, all-wise GOD need from any of us? Which one of us has anything a being of that magnitude would need -- or even want?
Love. It's all about the love man. You should know that better than anybody Mr. Loverboy.

i was born in the 70's, grew up during the 80's, was a young adult during the 90's.
i was born into the witnesses and attended meetings that whole time.
i am still attending meetings, in fact, for my wife's sake.
You are right. As threatening teachings are more readily available, thru the internet, the tightening of control becomes more necessary.
There is absolutely no doubt about it. Remember the "new and improved" Organized book dedicates an entirely new chapter to establishing the authority of the Governing Body. Recent outlines presented in elder meetings with the COs have warned against the dangers of independent thinking. No. It's not just your imagination. They have lost the respect of many and are trying to regain it in all the wrong ways.

i enjoyed listening to this when i woke up this morning:.

hope you enjoy it, too..
Einstein reportedly said: " I am a deeply religious nonbeliever. This is a somewhat new kind of religion."
i know the society tells people not to listen to rock n roll cause its from teh satan, not to watch r rated movies because they're "worldly", etc.
but i was wondering if folks had any specific instances where one song, one show, one movie, or whatever was singled out as being particularly 'evil', and banned on an individual basis?
i was never a jw, but was in the worldwide church of god...the two are rather similar, i've seen many (and made quite a few myself) comparisons on the board; and i can remember as a child that every once in a while certain things would get brought up as being more evil and worldly than others.. examples of specific bans:.
G. Losch of the GB thinks that Witnesses should not watch American football. Don't know his position on soccer.
