I logged into this site today and the first topic I had opened was one by misanthropic regarding strange things we eat. I was appauled by the comment made by the first person to comment. I have a good deal of respect for men and twice that for the female gender. I am a male and I was embarrased that a male would make such a comment on a site like this. I hope all of the males on this site are more respectful, especially to the female gender.

Things YOU eat, that other people think is weird.
by misanthropic inthis mornings events have got me thinking about things.
i love peanut butter, not the sweet kind but i like the old fashioned peanut butter, usually laura scudder's with no sugar or preservatives - it just tastes better imo.
i put it on everything including pancakes which are really good with peanut butter and maple syrup.

I like raw shellfish, oysters and clams and raw steak dipped in a spicy raw egg white sauce. Do you think faded-out will ever find that refresh button so he can come back and apoligize?

When I was 10, my father prepared a six minute lecture for me to read at the Thursday night meeting, and he did this many times after. I dream of standing up at the mike and saying, "After tonight, you will never see me here in this Kingdom Hall again. I don't believe in god and I never will." and then I leave the stage, walking the isle furthest from my fathers seat and leave the biulding. I was the king of the nonbelieving children and I picture many of them getting up and following me. I actually couldn't do that because in those early years there was no welfare dept. to protect me from the beating I would have recieved. Ken

There were no JWs in my age group, plus or minus five years that stayed with the JWs. About 30 from my cong who I e-mailed this video to. They will like it!

I haven't seen her since I was 18 when I left the JWs. She had married a JW and divorced within a few years. They both left the JWs. She remarried and divorced again. I learned from gossiping JWs that she has changed her lifestyle in the last 17 years.

When is it 'going too far'?
by nekone041 ini'm new to the forum (in fact, i just joined about 10 minutes before starting this post), and am a new jw (i began learning and attending meetings since about november of '06).
i have a question involving my girlfriend and i, and i'm hoping to find a moral answer.
my girlfriend and i fell in love two summers ago, and we're still pretty young (we're turning 17 this year).

Where did you say your chaperone was? This is the policy for JWs, you should have one at any time the two of you are together.

I lost the hatred as a teen. Amazing how one emotion can overpower another. I fell in love with a young girl who I was never allowed to date because of thier rules. Now 37 years later I still love her and I can't find her.

Regrets of Being Brought up as a Witness
by chuckie77 inive never really been one to say a whole lot against the organisation, even though i was really unhappy in the years leading up to getting out of it, i still think theres so many good, peace loving and genuine people in it.
that said i was brought up as a witness and sometimes feel like ive been robbed of a true childhood.. my dad was a lot older than my mum, and was almost 50 when i was born.
he was the po in the cong and being a witness was, and still is, everything to him.

I remember at age 4 having my pants dropped anywhere at the KH and getting my butt swatted because I wasn't paying attention. Then at home it was the strap, it's lash so severe the I couldn't control my urine. This happened every Thursday night and Sunday morning for years. Punished twice for the same thing and being punished for things I didn't do is highly practiced for JWs because it proves they love thier children. You are right when you say you can hear others getting spanked. I knew of one youngster whose father pulled his belt out at the KH and used it across his back. Other JW adults thought it was amusing.

My father became a JW before I was a year old. I knew only abuse as disipline by a man who would hold the bible in one hand and whip me with the other. Many parents at that time did this and they all say it was out of love. I was whipped severly in first grade for stealing, which I didn't do, it was a prank some one else had done. Thats when a hate so bad fell onto my heart that even Al Quida would hide in thier caves. I wanted to kill my father and actually thought about it many times growing up. Instead I became an athiest at 6 years old and studied peoples weaknesses that cause them to find something in the bible to help them make decisions they can't make on thier own.
