you know, being brought up not being allowed to date until you were 'of marrying age'.
IMO, there is so much to discover, even non sexual, about a life long partner that can't be discovered in a chaperone type environment enforced by the JW culture. So a marriage is like signing a contract without reading the fine print.
Realistically, there are discoveries that are not learned until after marriage even for non JWs who, having the opportunity, weren't honest and open during the dating period resulting in unhappy marriages and divorce.

it's sometimes very shocking how much of a jerk he is.
when i say something, i get, "be careful cognac" and he's told me before that there marriage is none of my business.

i was watching the news when the first plane hit the first tower.

the news people couldn't believe it was happening and thought it was a small plane that went off course.
the thought of it scares me so much i can't even think straight... just writing this makes my heart race like you wouldn't believe.. i need to face my dad and mom.
my dad abused us, my mom allowed the abuse.
i need to face him with my two older brothers - the ones who got it the worst and who never faced them about it.... i know my mind will go blank so i'm simply going to write out what i have to say and read it to them.
You should expect the inevitable JW parent response.
"Lets go to the bible, (book, chapter and verse) where it says that a loving parent will discipline their children in the ways of the Lord. Next scripture, spare the rod and spoil the child." etc, etc. It's all denial in many ways.
The WTS is now encouraging "Reproach" instead of physical punishment. (They are just trying to keep up with local laws.IMO) A parent should sit down with a child and the bible, using scripture show why their behavior was wrong. (OH, give me the 2x4, Pleeeasse!)
