  ok, so i'm doing research on my family.. we've been in this country since 1650, and like lt. dan on forrest gump, i have had someone from my family fight and die in every us war.

  so my family came to georgia in 1789, they were given a land grant for their services in the revolutionary war and settled here near uga/athens.

  when they came to the area known as "goose pond" there was only one church that was established.... it was called "millstone creek" baptist.

  I don't think my family went back, they joined the Methodists. But, then later, my grandmother brought this deplorable religion called the JW's into the family.

  supposedly about the same time as the bethel visitor's dress code brochure, talks were being given in kh concerning women showing cleavage.. i don't know.

  i haven't heard any of these talks myself, but my folks tell me they have.

  they also told me about the talks given in other congregations (reported to them by their friends).. i guess some cos, pos, etc.

  So my family came to Georgia in 1789, they were given a land grant for their services in the Revolutionary War and settled here near UGA/Athens. When they came to the area known as "Goose pond" there was only one church that was established.... it was called "Millstone Creek" Baptist. While searching through their records yesterday I found that they had kept records of disfellowshipping... hell yea, they'd throw your ass out if you did something wrong.
  
  I had to find out if anyone in my family was thrown out, so I read almost every record of disfellowshippment they had... and there were quite a few and they were funny as hell!
  
  One man had been caught several times screwing around on his wife, caught red handed too... his excuse, "well, the lady in question is very nice looking and I just couldn't help it"....LOL! He wasn't thrown out for that, he was eventually thrown out because he got caught having sex with her like three times after that... they'd thrown people out for far less, so the men who were judging must have either agreed that the lady was in fact too hot not to have sex with, or they had in fact had sex with her themselves.
  
  OK, so there was a Huff that was disfellowshipped, he was my GGGG_uncle, and his name was George Washington, a moniker that many in my family share to this day... he was caught "dancing and drinking" spirits... he told the tribunal, "I do no regret doing either" and was thrown from the ranks of the Church... My GGGGG-Grandmother, named Martin, she left the church just a year after that and joined up with the Methodists... I believe it was for two reasons, she lost the family farm after the Civil War, and she was pissed because of the church disfellowshipping George. LOL!
  
  What do you guys think? Why did this church/and the southern Baptist stop shunning?

  Remembering Danny

  i did not realize i had a topic left.. two years ago my brother committed suicide.. people from this board were very helpful and supportive.. suicide of a loved on is a difficult death to deal with.. my heart goes out to all who have lost a loved one to suicide.

  an old girlfriend is accusing me of "grinding" which is porneia according to the society, and a disfellowshipping offense.

  Sorry dude, but you must of "grinded" to the point of ejaculation, right? Because that's what I read into this.
  
  Do you believe in Jehovah? If not then lie like hell... do you believe in Jehovah?.. Lie like hell anyway, because these plumbers you'll be meeting with are probably tired crap less of having sex with their 950LB wives, and are being told by the org to not look at porn, so this is the closest thing they'll hear that resembles what they used to do 20 years ago, and their britches may in fact get a rise over this. I wouldn't give them the satisfaction... believe me, they'll want details. I mean freaking details. I've been there and done that.. exact same meeting for me... we grinded... and grinded, and grinded, and they sicko elders wanted to hear all about it.
  
  Tell them shes a crazy, jealous women, no wrath like a woman spurned... you did "wrestle" with her, but you didn't even get a boner, so you don't know what she's talking about. Tell them your very sorry that this wrestling match has brought any reproach on Gods name, since you are a faithful servant and didn't feel as you did anything wrong.
  
  Tell them you'll be sure to never be alone with a hottie again, and then get the hell out of this damn stupid religion.

  My uncle is out of one cult

  but as is typical, seems to have hooked up with another (get rich quick/god wants you to be rich) kind of cult.

  this is my uncle with mental problems.

  after 3 divorces, mentally ill children coming out of his ears, my mom thinks him hooking up with this 'new religion' means that my uncle is nuts-really nuts.

  me... liberal male, could care less what you do with your sex organs, i only care about what i do with mine...that said, i've several gay friends... none of which are monogamous.

  so, my next door neighbors are lesbians, neither are the hate all males types like some i have known in the past... matter of fact, one loves sports and hangs out here watching football and other sports with me at least once a week.
