Bible study with PO/sister and wife, did not go well......
by insearchoftruth inlast night....did not go well at all, at least in my opinion.
i feel that the sister from her conversations with my wife started on a quite defensive mode....did my best to stay level headed, but i know there were times i was frustrated, and it showed.. .
the husband and wife were about 40 minutes late, due to traffic, and they were not prepared to discuss michael/jesus, and with respect to the doctrine change, he merely provided me a 1995 and 1997 wt article, when he and i spoke on the phone, he said he was going to show me in the bible, he sort of danced around this a lot, but not to my satisfaction.. .

"My wife really ate this up and afterwards commented on how she never really thought about it, but it is quite great that they are able to make changes....what would a good answer have been for this??"
Well, I guess this main point to this is that anyone can read a book and come to different conclusions about it. That's why there are so many differing Christian religions. But the JWs are the only religion that will boot you for not going along for what these mind changers at the GB tell you is now new light.
They are the only religion where the adherents must accept doctrine or be shunned by their family and friends. -

yknot... man, look at this country right now, we don't have a leg to stand on if we're going to tout our brilliance. Bush has been elected twice, which not only says what an idiot the Democrats ran against him, but how damn stupid the average American is right now for voting for this moron... twice
And as for scientist, I live in Athens, one friend is from India, the other is from Pakistan, they are here not as students, but as research scientists. We are in a world of hurt here in the states man, look at our education system. You'll have a hard time convincing me that the US is up to the rest of the developed world's standards as far as education goes. -

"yes, the US seems willing to pay top dollar for foreign scientists. It's almost as if there were a shortage of Americans with suitable qualifications".
We have scientist here, if you don't believe me then we'll form a posse and hang you as a witch.
We are one damn backward country right now funkyd.. we voted in Bush, twice! Don't that tell you all you need to know? -

The tipping point
by JeffT infrom wikipedia: "the term tipping point describes a point at which a slow gradual change becomes irreversible and then proceeds with gathering pace.
it is derived from the metaphor of a rigid solid object being tilted to a point where it begins to topple.".
has the watchtower reached such a point?

Have any of you studdied the similaries between Zoraster and Christianity?
by dawg ini've always found it interesting that satan isn't mentioned by name in the bible until job.
i found the similarity's between the emergence of jesus' teachings, and the similarities of the zoroaster faith interesting.
i hope you guys will take the time to copy, paste, and read this article.

Nice to read all your comments...
The more evidence we have about the bible, the more we find reasons to question its divine authorship. The fact that the Essenes practiced Baptism, is very interesting, and that they had an Armageddon, a concept not in the OT, really amazes me.
Seems all modern day Christians are doing just as those in ancient times were, still waiting on the Armageddon gravy train. Its never going to come. -

Isn't some of this interesting stilla? I mean, I've always wondered where the concept of Satan, heaven, hell and the like came from. Even Armageddon!
Since I was a child, I used to wonder what made the OT God so different than the NT god?
