My dad would beat the crap out of me and he would quote scripture" beat your child he will not die" The worst was when he whipped me with a garden hose, that really hurt especially the metal end. The last time he beat up my brothers I was 16. He started to hit them with the broom handle on their backs, that's when I lost it and I grab my dad by the throat, push him against the wall and punched him right in the stomach. I looked at him right in the eyes and said if he ever did that to my brothers again I would bust up his face.

The name Jehovah and the April Study edition of the Watchtower
by seek2find inin the 1st study article of the april watchtower, a statement is made about some apostates opposing the use of the name jehovah.
i would like to seriously ask this question to lurkers and active witnesses.
why is it that in the new world translation the name jehovah apears in the greek scriptures (aka new testament) only 237 times and yet in the watchtower magazine between the years of 2000 to 2006 the name jehovah appears an average of about 3000 times per year?

It's funny how they continue to say a load of horse sh*& about us scary evil apostates, I don't know any "apostates" that oppose the use of the name Jehovah all we say is how is it that the WTBTS are so sure that this name was in the original NT because there is no original NT and the writings that are available (oldest dates back to the beginning of the 2nd century) do not have this name in it, that's all.

Widespread speculation you'll never see in print?
by Mickey mouse injws are very good at whipping up speculation without ever putting a word in print.
maybe they learned something from 1975.. what are some of the things you remember hearing that are not "official doctrine" but lots of jws believe it anyway?.
i've heard a lot of speculation that armageddon would either happen on nisan 14 or in october around the time they reckon the gentile times ended in 1914.. name some of the topics you've frequently heard unsanctioned speculation about.. .

Well if is about doctrine, I heard a CO mention that maybe Satan made the snake in the garden eat the fruit first in front of Eve and then began to talk, which of course would have supported what it said after and also why Eve did not ask herself why is this snake talking?

Article: The Atheist's Dilemma
by BurnTheShips incampos: the atheist's dilemmaby paul camposwhy is stanley fish so much smarter than richard dawkins?
that question occurred to me last week, while attending a lecture at which fish, the well-known literary and legal theorist, did the thing he always does, which is to make the following point over and over again:.
"no believer will find his faith shaken by evidence that is evidence only in the light of assumptions he does not share and considers flatly wrong.".

How do you know this?
I have a dilemma for you , what if an entity did talk to you and said it was God how can you be sure it's true? How can God prove itself to us? That for me is the question not that it God actually exist or not, if there is a God how can we be sure the entity in front of us is really God?

Interpretation? Some think that we create reality with our minds. They even use the quantum physics collapse of the wave function only by conscious observation as evidence. It makes it seem like the universe is in an infinite state of potential until our minds determine the state it will take.
Maybe sometimes we don't see the forest for the trees.

Isn't this what the article is assuming? Dawkins would interpret the angel as an hallucination because of his mindset and a christian would say it's an angel but it does not change the nature of the angel if it really is an angel, of course.

Interesting article. It is true that the mindset of a person will influence the interpretation of what he/she sees. Their is an other problem. Lest say for instance you and I would have an encounter with an angel, assuming that your are a christian you have a preset idea of what an angel is, I also have this because I was raised a JW. Is there any way in knowing for sure that this is an angel of God? Would we recognize one if it did appear? Because of are preset idea we expect it to look a certain way, what if it does not? It could be Satan or even a highly evolved alien. is there any way to be sure? This is a genuine question, I have ask myself many times. Is there really a way of being sure 100% one way or the other?

Angry Christians.
by Anti-Christ ini still don't understand what some people who call themselves christians think they are accomplishing when they start to insult you and call you a "demonic nitwit" or something similar.
i don't get it, i think they are adults but the act like a child having a fit.
why do they get insulted when we question their beliefs?

Interesting points. Uncle Bruce, I get the past can have an influence on someones belief especially when it comes to religion. BTW you are hilarious.
Every religion has its defense mechanisms to prevent the average believer from seeing through it. Otherwise, they would lose their members and have a miserable time getting new ones. And, if that happens, they would all go belly up. The most successful religions are also the most difficult to see through--even though they contain the Original Sin lie, the "need" for a savior from same sin, and strings attached for that salvation. And the need to not pay attention to anyone that points out that their religion is a scam.
That is an excellent point.
LouBelle I expect people to be "brutally" honest because I am, but like I said there is a difference with being honest and insulting someone, for example lest say someone cooks me a meal and I find it to be not my taste, the person who prepared it ask if I liked it, I could lie and say it was good or I could say that I did not like it not one bit. Now this person might feel insulted but there is a difference I would not call the person a moron or an incompetent fool no I just say that what they prepared was not good. If it was very very disgusting well I would not hold back I would say it was absolutely disgusting. I think I am doing someone a favor by being honest the same goes with someone that believes in crazy things and especially if it is damaging to themselves and others. Thanks for your input. I find LouBelle that you have a very wise and enlightened way of seeing things.
