absolutely weird.

minding my own business while pumping gas - this 60 year old short jw lady with fluffed bun styled 60's hair and her 30 year old attractive 5 ' 10 inch jw lady partner came straight up to me as i'm pumping.

they picked the wrong hombre .

I'm reading this at 1:40AM EST which is 10:40 your time and you have to be at your job at 4:30am your time? Wow, those are some brutal hours.

I've actually had two sisters on separate occasion walk away from me (one on the subway platform the other who moved to another car on the train) when I started questioning how many generational changes have they seen in the Org, or my fave is alway the fact that Dubs can now take blood fractions, I ask the questions where does the blood fractions come from and instead of them saying the obvious answer which is blood, they start talking about the synthetic form, then I bring back around to the human form. . . such an F** up Organization !!

I made a huge mistake

its been a tough 6 months for my jw hubby and myself.

next saturday is our anniversary.

i wasn't sure we would make it with the turbulance of the last 6 months.

We all buy things for ourselves that we like, especially those like me who are born-ins and had no choice about the no celebration of birthdays. I usually treat myself to something special for my birthday. But "born-in" doesn' t apply to a marriage, so I'm in agreement with Rebel8's post. I'm sure you've probably wondered why he never bought you anything and I'm sure you know the reason why, so you have accepted it over the years, I guess now you're getting REALLY tired of not being acknowledged.

Why do you think they changed their mind on organ transplants?

" then, suddenly, the position was changed to organ transplants being a "conscience matter.

" so, my question, why the change?

I'm also in the agreement of probably one of the GB needed a transplant. But then again, the question of why did they change, they change on just about everything else, so why not change about transplants, used to be always NO BLOOD now blood fractions, where do blood fractions come from . . . BLOOD.

JW's planning for retirement

i had an interesting discussion with a jw family member recently and he brought up his plans for retirement.

according to his age bracket, this will not be for another 20 years or so.

he plans to buy land, build a house, move the parents nearby.

When I was growing up in the 60's all the kids parents I grew up with are mostly gone but after they retired some ofthem retired and relocated to another state, you can't do that if you didn't put a little something away every week,they definitely had retirement plans, including my parents as well, my parents got to travel after retirement as did a few other retirees in the Congs in our area, so I guess they preached about the Big A coming any minute, but yet but something aside, smart move.

one of the biggest things that bothered me as a jehovahs witness was the whole 'we are the world' bullcrap that they used to teach, and that culture, color, and race didnt matter.

as far as i'm concerned thats a bunch of bs.

people have a right to preserve who they, where they came from, and they have a right to be represented.

Yea, the Dubs always say that there's no prejudice in the Borg, but I've heard a few stories from a Sis that moved from NYC to a southern town and in her Cong there were certain things going on, and needless to say her Cong wasn't only one where such racial problems were happening.

in the past 4 years i have never been visited (live in a new area where nobody knows about my witness past, urban area, highly densed witness communities around).. this week i almost had to force them to preach.

for the return of her mother's "conditional loan" to the society of $20,000.00.. (this was stated today, under my thread of, "what was the effect on you of knowing hypocritical jw's?").

the society more or less yes, no, it is now our money, and you can't have it back.

About ten or more years ago some Brothers in NYC started an insurance business that turned out to be a scam, I do remember that one of them did get Df'd for that, don't think they all did.

Kingdom Hall vs. Crack house...?

ok, this is our situation as of late: jw elderly mil needs to move in with us or go to an expensive assisted living arrangement.

although i would rather stick a fork in my eye than live with her, assisted living would bankrupt us.

i know because we've already been through it with my mom.

She is allowed to keep her home and rent it out but is only allowed to have $2000.00

Something doesn't sound right about that statement, yeah, you need an elder care lawyer. I've got one for a family member to whom I'm the Power of Attorney, if she'sr enting out her house then she has income, so can she afford someone to come into her home to help her, i have senior citizens on both side of me where I live, and I've noticed that recently they have help during the day, could even be 24 hour care like my relative has.

What Wasblind said. One Elder definitely sticks out in my mind for preaching what athe Borg says about college, but two of his sons are college grads, but his younger son, had children scattered around the Tri- State area and the elders in his KH knew about it, so, this most prious of Elders simply switched to another Cong. out on Long Island, where he was warmly accepted, can you say "old boys club" ???

Hey Truth - I see that table at 74-Roosevelt a lot, there's also a small set up sometimes at the Forest Hills Stations near the stairs, those are my favorites when I read certain things here and I like to get their view on it, like the KM a while back in the early 70's that said that brothers were selling their houses, ec in anticipation of 1975
