after this sunday's meeting i was invited over by one congregation elder's wife to an afternoon coffee.
we're not very close because of the age gap but we've "known" each other for so many years now, being in the same congregation.. she is like the anchor of the group.
You should've told her to go out in field service more.
I know that sounds like a cold response, but if you told her that you frequent an "evil apostate site" I bet she would've turned on a dime and reported you to her elder husband and you would've been called in the backroom before the week is over.

Well, you did your job, so it's up to how brainwashed she is since she's already been dunked. She got dunked in September so she's probably still being lovebombed and she's probably thinking that they really love and care about her
i believe it is mostly guilt.
many witnesses pioneer or "reach out" in the religion because they feel guilty.. they may feel they aren't doing enough.

so during the serve-us meeting last night an elder says something really dumb..as usual.
it was the km part about doing better in field serve-us.
they are discussing how to reach people, and how to be nice, blah, blah.. the eldub says, "we want to be kind to our neighbors, and talk to them and take an interest.
What he should've said is "we're not their friends until they get dunked, then they will be gobsmacked with that phony, JW conditional love"
there's a big snowstorm on the east coast and i found out that the school and service meeting was not cancelled but postponed to tomorrow.
why do they think it's so important to have it so they ruin another evening after shoveling snow?

I've never heard of a postponed meeting either, they were just cancelled. Like mentioned above it's just a waste of time anyway since less than half of the folks show up anyway.

my dad, sister, brother and now mom will die from this ugly disease, all of them had aggressive forms of stomach cancer, my mother's battliing it has me putting my health on the back burner because i am very obstinate and hate doctors, why should i go see a doctor if the last four people i loved all died of cancer once they got their dx?.
RottenRiley - A year or two afterTed Kennedy died, his daughter died of heart attack, although ten or more years earlier she was diagnosed with cancer that she beat. I remember reading in her obit about her bout with cancer that one Dr. told her there was really nothing that could be done for her, she found another Dr. that was able to treat her, and if she didn't have that heart attack she would probably still be alive. Also take into account that she was a Kennedy and I don't think lack of money is an issue with them, so I'm sure the Dr. who told her nothing could be done and the one that saved her life, me or you could probably not afford to sit in his waiting room.
Like I said, life is a crap shoot, ya' never know, even when you have the funds to seek out the best medical help.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe it's the "flu germ" of some sort.
A former co-worker of mine always made sure she got her flu shot the company gave out faithfully and the following week she was faithfully out with the the flu, or for those of you who believe in the shot, a very, very bad cold.

I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT WANT TO KNOW.
I have several reasons for thinking like that, I've never had or never will have a mammograhy or colonoscopy to whatever cancer test there is out there. It's a to each his own situation
I myself have seen many, many folks, inlcuding my dad get diagnosd with the Big C, have the positive attitude to beat it , some did chemo, my father didn't and of all the people I'm referring to they ALL died.
That's why my mantra is "life is crap shoot".
