She's blinded by the "JW" light, she will just dismiss everything you say OR she still may dismiss what you say but she will never let you know if you planted a seed to make her think about something that you said

by Anon_SA1 inso tomorrow is going to be my last encounter with a jw friend of mine for various reasons on her side.

People's Court - Fiancee has two daughter but not married
by ShirleyW inpart of the story on people's court this afternoon is that this women's mother wants her to baptize her two daughters in her monthers religion which is catholic, she offered that the father of both her daughters, aged 3 and 18 months is a jw and they both decided not to have their children baptized.. so, she uses the word fiancee, they have two kids and are not married, is there some new flip flop law about premarital sex now, or this guy put on the repentant act twice and was probably dfd a few times, i'm sure he's not the only one carrying on like that, but i found that part of this women's story interesting.
also glad it was mentioned on a show that draws a lot of viewers, it will probably raise some questions with nonbelievers who thought the dubs didn't carry on like that..

I was waiting for someone to post that clip from SNL, some things in that video certainly sound familiar and rings a bell about certain things in the Borg.

Hospitality hour?
by Lynnie inso i just talked with my jw mom and of course she had a very busy weekend with the memorial and then sunday meeting.
then she said that she went to a hospitality hour after the sunday meeting.
has anyone heard of this?

So I guess the little party they used to have after the weekly Book Study, although I don't think they did that every week, I think my mother said one week out the month they used to bring food, has now been extended to the Sunday meeting. -

to funny nice job....

One thing I noticed, I see the Memorial doesn't have people lined all around the wall and a whole lot of seats were empty,as a kid the KH was packed to the gills with people. I guess folks are getting hip to the the Dubs by watching Dateline or Nightline and reading about the child abuse cases.

A new low in public shaming (and groveling)
by Captain Schmideo2 ina local elderette at my former hall (the same type person who posts selfies while out in "service") posted this public admonishment.
the responses are so pathetic.
these are all adults, but they still act like scared children:.

That's why I have 3 FB's two of which I use for special occasions, like her post. I would've sent her a msg that said
"shut the F up you old hag sister, this is your presiding elder speaking"

In a nutshell, what is the wackiest jw thing?
by stuckinarut2 inwhat is the wackiest...strangest....most unusual jw teaching or practice?

The blood issue, now they can take blood fractions. Where does blood fractions come from? I would say that cotton fractions come from cotton and wood fractions come from wood. I think if they were sued by relatives that lost a family member that refused to take blood that would be so much bigger than the child abuse cases they're dealing with now.

How do you feel about religion as a whole?
by FatherFirst init just seems to me religion in general primarily makes truly bad people worse, not genuinly good people better; and in many cases has even made good people do bad things in the name of their religion.
just curious, a personal poll if you will.
what are you guys' current views on religion as a whole?

Any Letterman Fans
by berrygerry innot many shows left.. was a fan from his nbc days when he had a lot of innovation.. no question, he has a quick mind, which to me, is a key to comedy.. a distinct memory was awakening my poor pre-teen daughter when dave was back on the air after his heart surgery.. no matter what, is a changing of the guard (if only the wt could do the same)..

I've watched Letterman since his NBC days as well.
He still does the skits where he uses members of his staff, which I think are the lamest part of his show now, but I remember a skit he used to do during the NBC days with his wife Regina, who was then a member of the staff, something about her learning how to use a lathe properly.
