I think the crucial part of the Nevada law is the fact the govt will sell and tax it. If the govt sells it at a lower price than the dealers, then the dealers (and all of the violence associated with the greed) will go away. If they would just legalise drugs and sell them+ tax them like alcohol+tobacco (legal drugs!) then all of the gang and drug violence would end. Think about it. Columbia is in the middle of a civil war funded by our desire for drugs. If we legalised drugs and sold them for 10% of their current cost all of the Cartels would go bust! Gang members would have to *gasp* get jobs! I voted for the Calfifornia prop, it was not as good as the Nevada prop, but it was a start. I just hope the Feds get there heads out of their asses. Does anyone here have a figure on how much money was spent on the DEA and the 'WAR' on drugs last year??? Im sure it was in the tens of billions. They could take that money and fund EVERYONES education. The problem is all those federal jackasses dont want to lose their jobs so they justify 'the war'. Shit, transfer the DEA agents over to the FBI or the Border Patrol. I would rather have them stoping some terrorist idiot instead of wasting my tax dollars tracking down some pot head.
When we had prohibition A) It didnt work and B) Crooks made millions and crime skyrocketed (mob anyone???)
Sooo we woke up and relegalized alcohol, but I guess the feds didnt learn from past mistakes. OH LETS BAN DRUGS!! A) It doesnt work and B) Crooks are making BILLIONS and crime has skyrocketed (gangs anyone????)
What cracks me up is the arguement 'if we legalise it, then everyone will do it.....' This is false. In countries or states that have/had legal drugs, consumption did not increase. Amsterdam is a perfect example. Soft drugs have been legal there for over 10 years and consumption has not increased. In fact, when I went there, the majority of the people smoking where from England!! What is comes down to is A) politicians do not want to admit they are wrong B) Big money and jobs are tied into the DEA (transfer them!) and C) Drug Dealers have lots of $$$$$ to make sure it stays illegal (campain contributions anyone??)
If anyone thinks that drugs should stay illegal I would like to refer you to someone who wholeheartedly agree's with you- The Columbian Cartels!!! (and every single drug dealer/gangmember/ drugsmugler/ and lets not forget the mob!) They shit their pants when people talk of legalisation!
I would gestimate that during the past 30 years, the US. Govt has spent over $100 Billion fighting the 'War'
That is just straight anti-drug funding-lets not count the costs of Prison/Trial/Lost Wages/Social Impact of all the people in Prison on drug charges (aprox 40%)

If God's Son Appeared to the Watchtower
by IslandWoman inif god should send his son to 124 columbia heights would the watchtower recognize his authority over them?.
if jesus came again in the flesh, went to brooklyn healed the sick and performed other miracles but spoke out against the authoritarian rule of the governing body and the hypocrisy of others who work there would they accept correction?
if he said the governing body and all their immediate helpers were to step down because now he was to rule the watchtower and correct their wrongs, would they?.

I was thinking about creating some fun weekend entertainment. Some how I have to get some JW's to come over. I would invite them in to talk. Then about 5 minutes later the Mormons I invited would show up! Then we could all sit down and have fun!! I wonder who would leave first??? I think they would have a lot in common. -no crosses- -biblical people were angels- -dissfellowship- -no divorce- 'moral purity' -
The other day I asked my JW buddy about why JW's hate crosses and he gave me the exact response that my Mormon friend gave me!! Maybe they are cousin cults????

What Is Wrong With The WT's Dateline Response?
by stevieb1 ini have been following the wt/pedophile issue with interest and below is the wts response presumably to the dateline programme.
they seem to present a reasonable response to what was presented on the show, but are they hiding anything?
at psalm 144:15 we read: "happy is the people whose god is jehovah!

Why do I believe?
Well, for one I grew up in the Church. My Moms side of the Family is very religious. As I grew older I found it easier and easier to get distracted and blow church off. But then it hit me, when I go to church I have a better week. I cant really describe how, its just that things go my way more. I have been in some crappy situations and at the last minute they tend to work out. I honestly feel the Lord has blessed me (and forgiven me many times over!). Then there are the little miracles of life that the Lord throws in, just to say 'Hey, here's a little gift." My dad lives about 3 hours away from me so when I go visit it takes a half a tank of gas to get there. A couple of years ago I was driving a full size 4x4 (GAS HOG!) and I had to go see my dad. I was really stressed out and afraid to go see my dad becuase I was really low on money and couldnt afford to buy gas for the return trip. I had a full tank of gas so I figured, if I luck out, ill make it there and back (I couldnt bear to ask my dad for $$$$ as we were at odds with each other). So anyways I drove to my dads, and the great thing was that it only took a 1/4 tank of Gas to get there and I had enough to get back!! (IN my big ol 4x4!) . The Lord was looking out for me and helped me out when I was in a severe financial bind. That was the only time it took a 1/4 tank to get there (my gas mileage doubled!!!). I went there 2 weeks ago and sure enough, 1/2 tank each way. So even though it wasnt some huge vision or cryptic message, I knew that the Lord had helped me and that felt really good.

Anti-Evolutionists Wanted !!!!
by Francois inthere is an evolution question bubbling up down the threads a little way, and it minded me to try to really get to the nub of the opposition to the technique.. i would like to pose very serious questions, and i hope they attracts serious, considered responses - once and for all.. why is it impossible, in the minds of anti-evolutionists, that god did indeed create us, the earth, the sun, and everything around us including the entire physical universe, and that evolution was his technique; evolution as a divine technique?
how do you know, how are you so certain that's not the case?
how would you explain your opposition to god if he told you personally that, yep, that's the way he did it alright?.

Aquatic Ape theory?? Wow, Ive never heard that one before! Would be kindo of funny if they could prove it. Modern humans supposedly come from Africa, so how could they be Aquatic? UNLESS WE EVOLVED FROM SEA MONKEYS! LOL :)

Hmmmmm, Mr. Comforter
You say that the end is near. Ok thats great. How do you know? The Brooklyn Gangsta's have been predicting the end of the world now for over 100 years and everytime they are wrong. Correct me if I am wrong, but revelations specificly states that no man would know the end time.
Oh, and please stop refering to yourself in the third person, you are Not GOD.
