i believe in it. i think when we are wanting something and believe in it, are excited, then it attracts people into our lives that further that desire. it doesn't mean nothing bad will ever happen. but i think the same way a bad mood can be cantagious so can good moods and feelings.

Personality Type That Draws One To WTBTS
by searching99 ini was thinking about this last night and after reading the previous topic about the gb believing or not it has me thinking again.
i am continually amazed at how a "new" religion can cause ones to abandon all previous beliefs and they are never questioned again.
i am third generation.

i was thinking about this last night and after reading the previous topic about the GB believing or not it has me thinking again. i am continually amazed at how a "new" religion can cause ones to abandon all previous beliefs and they are never questioned again. i am third generation. my grandparents on both sides were raised in other religions. on both sides, it was my grandmother's that started studying and the husbands followed. both parents raised in "the truth" as, myself and siblings. in my immediate family i'm the only one to have left, although i have cousins that are no longer active. so, is it a personality type that causes one to make these choices? i think even if one has doubts, especially men, elders in the congregation it's so hard to leave because that has been their whole life. they would have to admit to their families they were wrong. most don't have much in the way of secular employment. and they get some "power" by being in a position to lead. again, a certain type of person?

Ban on Jeans , T-Shirts & Shorts after the Convention
by dozy inapr km insert.
"even during leisure time , such as when going out to eat after the programme , we should dress as befits ministers... and should not wear such clothing as jeans , shorts or t-shirts.
what a witness this will give to the community.".

you can tell this has hit a spot! i keep hearing this in my head "this is part of the sifting work. he that is faithful in small things will be faithful in all". is this true? maybe it is. i can't live like that. it's why i never felt "good enough". i couldn't be "perfect".

The Light Gets Brighter
by searching99 ini was thinking about this today after reading some post regarding how the organization has been incorrect with the date of the end of the system and really anything else.
i always remember the "answer" being: jehovah causes the light (a better understanding of his plan) to get brighter.
i always wondered why it was so unclear the first time around.

Remember how great the get-togethers were in the 1980's??
by PaNiCAtTaCk ini remembers skating parties at least once a month, volleyball at the park, get-togethers where everyone would play bible charades and sing kingdoms songs, going to the river to swim with the whole congregation after the sunday meeting, spending the afternoon at the lake eating watermelon and water skiing.
it was a great upbringing!
also, i dont want to leave out the strong feelings of eliteness that i had even as a child, of having the truth.

happydad, i found your post very interesting. growing up in the truth (i've been out for about 7 years now) there were always certain elders that i felt like "got it". they were fun and easy-going, and it never failed that within a few years something would happen to discourage them, or they expressed some doubt that was not tolerated. i'm curous what your experience was. also, and this is for anyone, how to you go on after you come to terms with no longer believing? do you believe in armagedden? will we grow old and die? i'm young and contemplating a family, how do i raise a child? all of these questions is what brought me here. for years i just surpressed any feeling i had. just ignored it. but i find i want to define what i believe now. THANKS!

who has been the select group throughout history?
by searching99 ini have a question that i'm curious to have feedback on.
if jehovah has always had a group of people that were "his select group" to have his messages relayed, who were these people/relgions between the time of the early christians of bibilical times and the founding of the bible students?
