Question about being an opposer....

our son is married to a jw girl, and is slowing being sucked into the cult himself.

he knows we appose this organization and have tried to show him the falsehoods of the wts.

my question is: if he has told the elders at his kh about us (that we're against the wts)......do the elders tell him to limit his association with us??

1) Show him(them) something like what Scully posted above. Suggest for him to use logic in his thinking on this matter. If they claim the devil is behind all the wrong doings, then who is behind all the right doings and tons of love that is shown to man across the earth on a daily basis? Is then, that God? Is it God that is working in the background when hundreds of shelters each day in this nation, are feeding the homeless, and poor? Is it God that is letting a mother and father enjoy a great day with their children at a park, or is here there when they were giving birth to their kids which gave them such joy and passion in their lives? OR, ask him, could "Jehovah" God only be behind the happiness of the JW, and the rest of us it's just by chance. Point being, compare what they are saying about ALL badness in the world being Devil run, to who's behind all the happiness, compassion and joy. Would they have to admmit that yes, the devils is behind the bad, but God is not behind the good(but only for his organization)? If YES, then do they not seem like they are giving a foolish answer?

2) As others have said, and these were major points for me when someone was trying to lure me in....You have to convince them that there is NO WAY, God's people could have been started with such things as Charles Russell and the Pyramidology(show them the Pyramid Memorial), the embarrasing Beth Sarim incident( in the watchtower library I saw where they only say that the house was for retreat for Rutherford, so have clear evidence from somewhere that IT WAS bought for the return of the prophets and a failure of a prediction).

3) You have to have great info on the false prophecies, I have an Awake from October 8, 1968, that is sure to knock some sense into most New Generation Dubs. The months and years building up to 1975 as THE END, was clearly in many publications before 75, so try and get that together.

4) If they think and they are teaching that "touching Unclean things" is totally off limits and something their people try to live by, ask them if this is how God wanted to start his "organization", by having them associate with PAGAN "unclean things". In the beginning they had Crosses, celebrated some holidays, etc. It's one thing to "claim" over the years, they were just "FED" new light, but ask them..."Really, do you think that is how God would have started his organization?"

5) You need to make your son aware that if he wasn't with this DUB, how would he view all the things he's hearing from them?..... he would be able to use good logic and see the falsities of this organization, but he's in a situation where he's being influenced by a relationship.

Lavendar, I feel pain in my stomache for you over this situation you are in, and I've never been a witness. I am around these witnesses 5 days a week every week, so I see the mind control regularly, and I can't stand to hear you have to go through this...it just plain stinks!

to you, we'll all be thinking about you as you go through this, I'm sure.

was just curious.........do witnesses have to buy the stalktower and asleep magazines?

or does each kh supply them to the members for free?.

also, do they have to try to sell them to householders anymore?

Do witnesses have to give $ to the KH for taking a certain amount of the magazines, or does the WTS provide them to the JWs for free? How does that work?

Really Now - NO Treachery?

was it an article in the 15 july 2006 watchtower wherein it is stated that jehovah, jesus christ, the holy spirit and the loving spiritual shepherds would not permit treachery to occur within the christian congregation?

if so, why have my jws been defrauded and deceived - with wt sanction, some cases being brought to their attention - with regard to large sums of money, not to mention other assorted atrocities?

People who believe in a creator can accept evolution as fact on this earth. I am one. Believing a species adapts or evolves to suit their environments or struggles is a no brainer.

Proving where & how it all started, now that's a different story, for me.

To the forum controllers, can you come up with Awards? Good idea to me

i was thinking, and not because i want any or could even get one, but i thought it would be cool to do a quarterly awards presentation(privately or not), or even on a random basis, type of award certificate presentation that can be emailed to the recipient of the certificate.. you can have an "annual" awards "e-show" if you'd like, once a year even.. i think that there are some funny as heck postings, topics, and replies on this forum that people should be recognized for.

even some down right serious emotional issues that could be recognized.. the certificate award for a particular category would be emailed as a pdf or jpeg, 8x10 size, with poster's jwdf id name, and i'm sure plenty of people here would love to print and frame them at home.. would there be a way of having "number of awards" given listed under the id name, kind of like how the posts are displayed?

no one needs to know what anyone has gotten them for, if they are given privately.. if this could be pulled off, i think it would be nice and uplifting.. possible categories anyone?

i'm working on a video of jw beliefs with another ex-jw.

we are going to shoot some footage of russell's tombstone and pyramid and also going to interview a jwd'er about his exit.

i was wondering if any of you have any "reasonable" requests?

I wouldn't mind having a crisp closeup of the part of the pyramid that says "Watchtower Tract Society" or whatever it says. The ones on the net are usually blurry and low rez. A good overall high rez image would be nice too of all sides. What ever you can muster up. Won't hold you to it, but thanks if you do!

If you need anything for your video like photoshop work, screenshots for video transitions or a design for the cover or something, let me know, I'd be glad to help.

and so on....... Could be too complex, but I think if done with some good thought, it could be fairly easy.

Just an idea. I'm a graphic designer and could provide the digital awards for emailing if help is needed in that area.

i'd like to get some detailed support(but not 20 paragraph reports.

are there any of you that ever had problems with the support of these activities, ie, you didn't fully agree with it.. i'd like some thoughts on luke 10:4 & 10:7, specifically, i understand this as (10:7) "find a home to stay in while your in a particular town, and do not go from house to house shacking up".

would anyone think that it supports not going door to door for home bible studies?

Would anyone think that it supports not going door to door for home bible studies? And 10:4 to not do street witnessing?

I feel that in that era, the Gospel specifically pertaining to Christ & Christianity was not well known and makes sense why there was such a push to witness these ways, however, in todays times and the last centuries, it's so well heard of and known that a standard of door to door, is just not an absolute necessary.

I know people who support the "Truth" will credit this to satan, and I believe they are just mislead, but my church as an example, has grown from about 2,000 members to about 4,000 in the last 3 years. No door to door, no street witnessing, but outreach programs, word of mouth and by leading by example to others in our lives. All these reasons grow churches worldwide, and the word of God and Christ is in such abundance.

I've clearly seen the superior attitudes JWs have in thinking that they are clearly "God's People", cause THEY are doing the door to door work, which lends mental support for them believing that they MUST be IT.

If any have studied other faiths, there are others that go out witnessing too.
