It all depends on who is saying it and in what context. If a black person said this to another black person I think it would probably be meant in a derogatory way as in "Uncle Tom".
Since I have a feeling this was meant to be tounge in cheek question I will say if you act white in a snow storm, no one will notice.

It was a difficult way to grow up. I remember being embarrased to admit I was a JW. Of course, going to public school and being prohibited from participating in any holiday activities/celebrations and standing out NOT saying the pledge, etc. It was hard. Also, I was so unnerved that my schoolmates would see me out in service on Saturdays if I happened to be working in their nieghborhood.
I did not feel very "normal" growing up and I did not feel "special" either. I hated my mom's split personality. All smiles at the KH and a real witch at home. Not very spiritual at all. But we're all imperfect, right?

i saw boston legal this past tuesday and denny crane said he was impressed by the "articulate" man who didn't "sound" black.
this caused an uproar!!!

I don't think it's any wronger than saying someone "sounds" gay. People need to lighten up.

last night on the news a woman was told by a store manager that she could not in public breastfeed her child.
she and her husband were quite offended and complained to the company's main offices.
they are now looking into this situation.. what's your opinion?
In my opinion breastfeeding in public is not a big deal and I am rather surprised how many posters here find it objectionable. Go figure.
Now if the kid is 5 years old I might find it to be objectionable.

i was raised as a witness, was disfellowshipped last year.
all my brothers and sister left too, so my parents were devastated when i left, as i was the only one left going to meetings.

it works, i sent a co-workers address and name to you know who.. today the co-worker told me all about the visit he had on monday.
(took about 4 months for it) .
he took one of their books but didn't pay for it the older man said "even a copper penny would help.".
That's amazing. It took 4 months for them to come with their life saving message.. Good thing the Big A didn't come first! What a bunch of a holes. I actually signed myself up last week to see how long it would take for them to contact me. God help the idiot who calls on me.lol
