Farkel Writes a Book?

several years ago i was contacted by a well-known (actually famous and well-published) professor from the university of california at san diego and we had lunch.

he bought lunch.

doesn't everyone write books to make a whole big bunch of money?.

i'm almost tempted to go to the assembly this sunday..... redevelopement work is taking place in newcastle england, and the latest part of this is for the former scottish and newcastle brewery (where they brewed newcastle brown ale for years) to be blown up on sunday morning.

demolition is scheduled for around 930 am.. a few hundred metres from the demolition site is the newcastle telewest arena where the district assembly is being held this weekend, the days program starting around the same time as the demolition.. can you imagine how 8000 witnesses are going to react when during the openning prayer asking for armegedon to come there is suddenly a loud explosion and the building begins to shake!!!!!!!

Death,Destruction,Gloom, Oh my!

when i was a jw(d'fed now) i remember sitting thru the meetings listening about death and destruction and how people were going to die who were not jw.

i was more depressed being one of jw than i was when i was a catholic.

Does Someone Have to be Religious to Be a Good Person?

this is something my wife and i were discussing the other day .

in a general view of religious people - most religious people feel it makes them holier, better, or on a higher moral plane claiming to worship god in an organized religion.

in the jehovah's witnesses view - the outside world is evil, and they claim that if you get away from their religion , and " fall away" a person is doomed to go astray, doing various sundry things like murder, adultery, stealing, orgies, because " they claim " that they have fallen " out of " god's favor.

Wash your mouth out with soap

did anyone ever have this done to them, literally?

i thought it was only a figure of speech, until my mother did it to me for real.

i think i was about 10 at the most, and i said the word "piss", which to my mother was the equvalent of the f-word.

All the time. I was born with a potty mouth. All the soap in the world didn't help.

I used to like to play with matches, too. I still don't know why my mom washed my mouth out with soap when I burned down the woods. It was an accident, really. I just wanted to toast some marshmallows. The fire got a little out of hand. I was only 4 when that happened. Thank God no one was hurt 'cept maybe a few field mice.
