What about this:
There is just one God, with three personalities, God himself, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. So basically, the Creator has some form of schizophrenia?
That could explain the gaps in the bible and why Jesus keeps praying to somebody he does not realize is him?
I think Cybil should be contacted and questioned about this.
Trinity....thought up hundreds and hundreds of years after Jesus walked the earth...some many other pagan religions had some form of trinity, why not apply it to Christianity?
As for words being changed and left out, Bibleboy, do you think that the NWT is the ONLY bible that does not have perfect translation??

God on Trial - #3 - Standard of Justice
by Amazing ineating fruit: when eve and then adam ate the fruit, they were given the death penalty and low productivity yield from their food growing efforts.
but, they did get a nice long life, somewhere around 900-930 years.. murder: cain murdered his own brother, abel.
cain whines to jehovah about how severe his punishment is, too great to bear, and jehovah consents to put a mark on him so that no one will harm cain.

The God described in the old testament certainly does not seem very loving. It is very hard to try to relate him to the God of the New Testatment.

Help - elder just called!
by JW83 inhi guys, an elder who just moved into my local (slack) cong just called to find out how i was going spiritually!
i haven't been to meetings for a year and no one else has ever cared, even though i was aux pio'ing at the time i stopped.
he is coming over with his wife one day, he said.

Blue,
actually, it is not unreasonable for the new elder to think he and his wife cannot ask for a visit to encourage him. At least not in any congregation I have been associated with. It actually is caring...and I agree with Arg that if the wife is coming it is only for encouragement and getting to know him.
Why make a big issue? If you really do not want to meet with the elder, just say, no you do not have time, but that you appreciate his concern and wish him well. Say you have some personal issues that you do not feel comfortable talking about and that you will make sure you introduce yourself the next time you are at the hall.
Save yourself some stress...there is no need to get confrontational if you are not ready to DA yourself.

I wanted to name the last baby Sidney, but let him name her because he has never gotten a chance to name a kid before. I just don't know if Sidney would work now.
Any suggestions? The fetal one is a girl, and giving my a very hard time from the beginning. If I don't get a good name she may end up being name Ursula in revenge.

I will never forget the time I bought an old used car from an old high school friend. The previous owner had been a smoker and the ashtray still had ashes in it, but the car really did not smell. Since I never used the ashtray, it was always closed and I did not really tnink too much about it.
Well, somehow the elders heard that I had a car with an ashtray full of ashes in it and two asked to speak to me after a Sunday meeting. They were pretty serious and asked if I had been smoking..I was shocked! When I learned why they thought I was smoking I actually laughed! I promised to clean out the ashtray as soon as I left the hall.
How anal is that?

Missed you guys, had "The Talk" with ...
by reagan_oconnor init's been about a month since i posted... sorry to stay away so long.. many of you are aware that my parents stopped speaking to me last year, and the only time i've seen them in a year is when my dad had a heart attack.
i got an e-mail from my mom that asked how i "felt about their religion" since i'm celebrating holidays.. i sat down with mom on saturday and told her that regardless of our differences in beliefs, that we're still family, and that will never change.
i told her that i understand that she's conflicted because of her beliefs, and that it's been difficult for her.

When I was having the toughest time with depression several years ago, the two books that made me feel the best were The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. (All I can say about The Bell Jar was it was nice to know I was not the only one feeling crazy in the world.)
I was very much an active JW at the time, and did get support from my friends their, but most of the advice to pray really really hard and make all the meetings was not the best thing. Fortunately, my best friend in the congregation supported my decision to get therapy and get some medication...which helped me much more than anything I got from the hall.
There are too many ways to be an unsuccessful JW. Miss a meeting here and there and you are inactive...don't go out in service enough to the elder's standards and you are a fair weather christian...etc, etc, etc. If this were the one and only TRUE religion than it could satisfy the basic needs of everyone.

What is the real meaning of life?
by Nicolas ini mean, if we have been created by the evolution then, our life really have no purpose.
we live about 80 years and then we die and it's finish.

Englishman,
Isn't 42 the answer to the QUESTION of life?
The earth was destroyed before the question could be revealed.I wish we could meet at the Restuarant at the End of the Universe to discuss this. My husband could use a Guiness right now.
