  hey folks,.

  i just read a letter from a friend in brazil where he express his happiness about the translation to portuguese of his book "in search for christian freedom" that is coming.

  i would like to share some thoughts of ray franz about the terrorist attacks in 11/09:.

  Oh...also...I wanted to add this note:

  I really don't believe that God is behind any one nation. What sense would that make? I personally believe that the US is justified in this struggle against terrorism.

  If this really is Ray's letter, he does make a valid point. Many Americans don't care a whole lot about what is going on in other countries unless it affects them. But this applies to people in most countries as well. "out of site, out of mind" is a very human thing. It was a horrible wake up call for most of us.

  Why should this surprise anyone? the man is not god. He has sincere beliefs, and has expressed them.

  Whether one agrees with him or not, at least he is not letting PC dictate how he states his views.

  Boys Scouts & WBTS

  as little jws, my brothers and i weren't allowed to join the boys scouts as it was affiliated with the catholic church.

  on the other hand, the wbts can affiliate with whom she wants, such as ngo, firephim, etc., etc.

  (romains 2:21-23).

  My son was 7 before I left. He wanted to join the scouts soon after we left, but I felt very wierd about it. I finally allowed him to join the Cub Scouts last year and it has been a great experience for him. (He is 10 1/2 now). We were always told we couldn't join because it was patriotic, not affiliated with religion. I din not discover the religious angle until after he joined, since each Pack is sponsored by a church.

  However, the scouts encourage the boys to be active in any church that they belong to, and have varius badges for all different religions the boys can earn if they choose too, it isn't required. We opt out of the religion part, but it has never been an obstacle to my son being in the scouts.

  Many of my witness friends and I would call the scouts 'paramilitary'. It really is a great organization to belong too. It teaches repect and responsiblity. Like any other group, though, if you don't have a good Den or Pack, or if your kid doesn't put effort into it he won't get a lot out of it.

  It is a shame how much witness kids miss out on. The scouts is not for everyone, but it is a shame that the Witnesses condemn it before they actually do their own research into it. Yeah, you really cannot be a scout without saluting the flag, but it is too bad Witnesses many times really don't know what the scouts are all about.

  I get a kick out of the reaction posted here about WOL. It is clearly stated on that site what they want and do NOT want. Clearly it is a board for JWs that love being a JW and are not looking to question their beliefs. Ones that are just looking to associate with other JWs who are satisfied with their religion. Well, good for them! At least they are ignoring the WT's advice that JWs don't need any other sites other than the official WT site, haahaa!

  What's the big deal there? A time and place for everything! There are PLENTY of other online sites including this one that they can go to if they want more than a onesided story. That site is very upfront in its guidelines. Its a heavily moderated board...there are plenty of various moderated boards out there.

  I am not currently a witness, and never plan on going back. I love this board, even though I do not agree with everything here. But that is WHY I come here...to see all sorts of non PC views.

  Interfaith Relationship

  i am currently involved in a relationship for the last year and a half with a man that i found out about 2 months ago is a jehovahs witness (and i am catholic).

  the only reason why i found this out, was that i was pushing the issue as to why his parents do not know that i exist.

  this really irritated me since he has a very close relationship with his parents.

  Honey, forget the whole religion thing. If this guy claims to really be a JW, yet only admitted it a few months ago when he KNOWS you are catholic, then he has been living, or attempting to live a double life.

  This guy is not trustworthy. I am sorry if I seem harsh, but this is a HUGE lie. Respect yourself enough to marry someone that respects you.

  Do you know the history of Jehova Witness

  the history of the watchtower organization is kept secret from new members and its own history is proof that the god of the bible would not accept these false prophets and false doctrines in his church body.. the founder of the jehova witness was named charles russell from pa. russell stated that in 1799 the end times started and that in 1874 christ invisibly returned to earth to rule.

  russells prophecy was that in 1914 the world would come to an end.

  russell changed that date to 1915 and later to 1918. russell claimed that only his published books could allow people to correctly understand the bible.

  Watchtower CD Rom Tech Support

  anybody have trouble running the 1995 version of the cd in windows98/me os?

  i get a "floating point error" message.

  i figure its some old visual basic incompatibility issue.

  Maybe the cd was written with software that automatically knows when there is going to be a change in thinking (new light) so it makes it impossible to access information that needs to be corrected.

  Heehee...there must be a new computer language out there, something link Invincible Basic +, or Jehovah Java.

  Family About to Disown Me

  well i finally got the guts to tell my mother that i had enlisted in the army.

  she didn't say a whole lot to me, but she did tell my sister she was calling the elders and that when i was df'd she would have nothing to do with me.

  i can't say that it suprises me too much, but i was hoping for more of an adult reaction.

  Yeah for your mom!

  I bet it was eating away at her after you too initially spoke about this situation. It must be hard for her, even religious feelings aside considering what is going on in the world. It sounds like her love for her son and your love and respect for her has helped her to see through her personal feelings.

  Is your wife a witness? I was curious how she feels about everything, and if your mom will give her support while you are gone.

  Hey, Blackman!

  Thanks for sharing your story. It was very easy to read and well written. It sounds like although you have lost your JW family you have not lost your desire to enjoy life and get the most out of it that you can.

  It is great to read a well balanced experience without dirty laundry. There are plenty of horror stories out there, but yours is a good example of someone that left based on research and integrity. I think many JWs feel most who leave just had a bad experience they cannot get over. When people like you share your experience you prove them wrong.
