I did know a few witnesses that did real volunteer work with their kids school once in a while, and sometimes other things. But if it was more than once in a while it was totally looked down on by the brothers as taking time away from Jehovah...sheesh.

Get A Load Of This One.......
by minimus inmy wife just called me at work to tell me that because my cousin "thought" he overheard that my daughter and her fiancee smoked "weed", he declined to go to my (formerly disfellowshipped) niece's anniversary party!!!!!
this is the niece that tried to kill herself bercause no one would talk to her because she was df'd.
when my brother found out that my cousin, his wife and his parents declined the invitation because of this allegation, he literally threw up.

Are you searching?
by desib77 ini've noticed that many of you are athiest or agnostic.
is there anyone that is still searching?
do any of you feel a void when it comes to faith and spirituality?

The more I search, the more Secular Humanism is appealing.

I live near an UU church that I have wanted to go to for months to check out...they have a pretty decent website, but I just cannot get myself out the door on Sunday mornings...how lazy is that?? =)
I would not say I am aetheist at all, but still working on a few things. from what I hear about UU, you can be a total aetheist and still be perfectly comfortable attending their churches..at least some of them. Each congregation is different. Besides not being a morning person, my husband really does not have any need to be associated with a church. He told me he would go with me once in a while if I can find one that can work with his confirmed belief in no god....
I need more of a community than spiritual thing at this point I think.

I did play a lot of slots when I went 2 years ago. but we did a lot of other things as well. Just walking around and taking everything in was a lot of fun. We were there for about 3 or 4 days and only saw probably 10% of what there is.
The food is awesome...and if you are doing a lot of walking, you can take advantage of the buffets and all the free drinks muahahah! I was quite a heathen with the food and drink, but we did so much walking around I actually lost 2 pounds hahah.
They have amusent rides...shows, go for a ride in the gundola at the Venitian....wathing the volcano across from the venetian is always neat, as well as the water fountains in front of the belagio.
we alwasy want to a race out there...so are days were full.

Why Did Elders Split Book Study's?

my mother was going to one that was directly across the street. then they changed it, she had no car, and when asked if she could stay, they told her she was not cooperating with the arrangements...unbelievable. Finally, the elder that lived across the street convinced the others that it would be kinder to let her stay.

I just had to share...I had the most wonderful weekend!
Friday, I took two of my girls for a 30 minute walk to a park nearby. On SaturdayI took three of the girls with me...we were gone for about 2 hours...had a good time. My 2 year kept waving bye to the "mucks" that were swimming in the water and quacking at her. I work from my home, and usually work on Saturdays, but besides checking my email a few times, decided to screw that!
Sunday I decided that I would make my son and husband get out of the house. The husband is back from one of his many biz trips he has had to take over the last few months..and actually was able to come with me and the kids to the park. We brought bikes for three of the kids, and had a great time...fed the ducks, played on the playground...was just together.(Of course, mind, you I don't know if this would have been possible if there had been a NASCAR race this Sunday, hahah)
It is the best Sunday afternoon I have had in months...a lot more fun than spending the afternoon in Field Service!
I, for one, always valued the simple things that my mother did with us as kids...flying kites, going for a walk in the woods, etc. Today, my 6 year old stepdaughter was riding her bike a few feet ahead of me, and yelled back, "Thanks for taking us to ride bikes here! This is the best day I have ever had!" It was a great feeling. Of course, my 4 year old was a bit upset with me right before we left, because my husband put her bike in the back of the van before she was ready. She told me I was "not the Bestest Mom" anymore for allowing that to happen....eeeek!
Just had to share...I have been trying really hard to peel my family from the computer, tv and video game distractions. My husband has been so busy with work it is hard for him to forget about work even for a few hours. Of course, Monday will be back to the usual grind...but it was good to know we finally had a break that did not involve spending lots of money!!
What did you guys do this weekend?

by new light init's a beautiful sunday morning here and i'm looking forward to the first above-freezing ride of the year.
i'm joining a bike club and taking some group rides that invariably fall on saturday and/or sunday mornings.
it's so nice to have these time slots back.

I Give Up - Where Can I Find Some Good Beef?
by seeitallclearlynow in.
folks, i know that good tasting steaks and ground beef exist - all the years of my youth and when i was raising my family, beef tasted great.
now no matter where i buy it, whole foods, ralph's kosher, black angus, etc, the beef tastes downright nasty.. vons has pretty good beef, and i haven't tried an actual meat market, but where do you find good beef?

by the way...you should try bison/buffalo if you have not yet...much less fat and extremely yummy!

Not to sound anti-Texas or anything...but I don't find the beef down here any better than what I could get back in NH....sorry!
I will say, though that the best steak house I have been to is Bugaboo Creek...which they don't have down here...I think it just means that I don't get out enough down here, because there are more steak places in DFW area then most of the country combined I think hahaah
Wal-mart actually used to have really good angus steaks at their butcher counter, but they don't seem to anymore.
I would suggest trying to find a local butcher. Since all the draughts the last few years beef hasn't looked to great nor been cheap at all. I don't even buy hamburger anymore, just turkey burger because that is actually cheaper than hamburger now.
