  Silent Lambs campaign...should we distribute at the KH??

  after seeing blondie's post about the new silent lambs campaign to distribute info on molestation, i got to thinking about something: what better place to hand these out than the kh?

  more specifically....put them on the windows of the cars in the parking lot while they are at the sunday meeting.

  maybe most would just throw them away...but if just one person sees it, and starts to question the policy, or ends up reporting abuse to the police because of it, it would be worth it.

  hmmm..you guys are probably right about the flyers getting thrown away before they see them. Maybe I should just go to laundry mats and slide them inside the magazines.

  Door to door? naw....I am NOT up for that. I will look into the newspaper ads. I don't think I could actually do picketing, not in front of a KH. I think that would be too confrontational, at least for me.

  ....................how old is your underware.

  i was sorting through my knicker drawer and there are some really old but comfortable knicknicks that i always choose, they are so old i cant tell you.. i have some really yummy underware that i keep for special occassions but never wear in the day.

  as my "special " occasions are few and far between i never were them.. if i had an accident tomorrow i would be well embarrist.. so tell me what the oldest bra, knickers or underpants do you own .

  I think I buy new underwear for myself every few months...because my undies disapear...even more than my socks do. very strange.

  On the sock note...i have to buy my girls new socks every few weeks...even when I only buy WHITE for all of them, I still cannot find matches...it is a conspiracy you know.

  so who amongst you is going to the wildflower fest?

  it really is worth the money.

  15 dollars get you in...(adult) and you see all the concerts and shows and the kids get to join in all the activities at the kidz korner for free.

  cool beans!!! I will do my best to get there....have a soccer game in the early afternoon to attend, but hopefully can get down there after that. I may just go with one of my kids and leave the rest of the fam home if they are not interested. I am getting a little tired of being out voted on the weekend activities hahah.

  I also have red hair...kind of...a long sad story...something to do with not really knowing how to dye one hairs properly and letting roots grow too long with any action, hahah. If I get there you will see what I mean hahah. You may recognize my eyebrow...as it is pictured to the left hahah.

  i called my sister yesterday.

  she is not a jw although she has studied off and on throughout the years and attends the meeting from time to time.

  she knows i don't go to the kh anymore.

  Do we have the same sister? I too, have a sister that has studied for years and goes to meetings yet has never gotten baptized. But I have to watch what I say around her, because she is easily offended, as if she has been a baptized witness for years. Kind of irritates me...makes me want to say: hey, either poop or get off the pot, if you believe in it so much!!!

  The last I said that offended her was when I told her about buying a Tazamania Devil tie for my husband a few years ago. She said she thought cartoon ties were inappropriate (my husband never has gone to a meeting...this was for a job interview..and yes, while that MAY sound unprofessional, he was interviewing with a manager I knew very well, and knew the guy would get a kick out of it.) I told her that I had known several brothers that had bugs bunny ties, and our brother even had a nice Garfiled tie. He was only a teenager. WELL, did I get a lecture about how inappropriate THAT was. And she would NEVER allow her son, who is under 11 for goodness sakes, where such a tie to the hall.

  So silly...I don't have conversations with her about doctrine though. I stopped doing that with her and my mom a while ago. It just isn't worth the heartache it causes them, nor the heated discussions....sorry your sister and you got into it. It is tough. We want them to see the WTS for what it really is..or ISN"T but at the same time, are afraid what it will do to them. I think it would utterly destroy my mother. It is what she clings too. At this point in her life, I am not about to rock that boat any more than I have too.

  yeah, it was really sick, at the end of the news cast the anchorman asked the reporter if he had a criminal record, and she said "even though he has allegedly been abusing for 20 years, he has no criminal record."

  It also mentioned that he was careful to prey on youngsters that he knew well and already trusted him. I think that is pretty clear witnesses at his KH turned a blind eye as to what was going on. The silent lambs website has a link to the news broadcast.

  just ticks me off....grrrr!!!!!

  I was just thinking about that earlier in the car when I heard a commercial for it.

  If I can get the hubby and kids to agree, I would like to go. It will be either that on minigolf. My 3 year old thinks she is Nancy Lopez Jr....so wish me luck getting there hahah.

  oh my...unbelievable.

  Why don't they understand that Charity to the general public is something that really should be judged not by the WTS but the law that governs the land? If you have to go to the hall or accept those damn mags to receive the "charity" than that is bogus.

  You know, other religions do real charity work...maybe if the WTS encourages the rank and file to hand out mags while running a soup kitchen once a month they can do some real good.

  I am not a very brave person...but if a few others would be willing to do this, maybe we could organize a people in cities across the nation to put them on the windshields. I don't know if we could get in trouble for trespassing or not..but hey, witnesses will knock on doors even if it says no solicitation...sooooo it may be worth a shot.

  Anyone interested? comments? Am I out of my mind? I am not looking to really cause trouble for people at the KH...I just want to do a little something to hopefully raise awareness.
