Unplanned pregnancy?!
by JW83 inthis sort of follows on from another thread about having kids.. is there anyone else out there coping with raising a child from an unplanned pregnancy?
i got pregnant about 18 months after i left the borg & i sure as hell blame my lack of experience/knowledge!
it has been a pretty rough ride ...

My first was unplanned....I was 19, single, and I had it from my family. Most didn't know until after I brought the kid home. I was a single mom for almost 8 years. It wasn't easy, but I was lucky and had the support of my family. My last child was unplanned, but I was married, so it wasn't a big deal. She was actually just early, since we had wanted another one, but was going to wait another year or two.
Edited to add: Crumpet, none of us can guarantee what our child will grow up to be like. We can give all the love and support and right direction, and they could still grow up to be an a$$hole. That is just a risk of being a parent. You don't have to be single to fear that. Of course I think all my kids are great...but I do wonder sometimes if their personalities will take a turn for the worse when they hit the teen years.

Only child?!
by JW83 inhi, what have been your experiences either as only children or as parents of an only child?
is it as awful and lonely as people say?
did your children grow up precocious & annoying?

I am in the exact middle of all my siblings, so I have no idea what it is like being an only child.
I have many kids now, but was a single parent until my oldest was almost 8, but honestly, my son spent so much time with my younger siblings, he was never lonely. He did constantly ask me for brothers though. When he was 5 or so he told me he wanted me to give him five brothers. I said five, are you nuts? and he looked at me and said "oh, not at the same time". Like that mattered hahah.
He adjusted to sharing stuff with his step sisters pretty well.
I have met some obnoxious, selfish only children, and also some very caring and giving only children. I think it all depends on the enviroment the parents create.

Evanescence,
I as I write this, I am listening to your album, haha.
Anyhoo....just tell them that you are lesbian, and didn't realize you were not welcome in their religion, so you are going to go find one that is.
Lesbians scare most JWs, I think even more than homosexual males....probably because who has the headship in a female-female couple?

How many have survived COC ?
by vitty ini am desperate to get the book coc into the hands of my daughter and her husband, just trying to find a way.. it got me thinking i wonder how many active jws could read that book and still stay in the org ?.
it had such an impact on my life and others i know.
i had never even heard of such a book.

I agree...no active JW that is very faithful will give the book more than a 2 second look at the cover...then scream "Satan, get behind me!" and run out the door.
I had already left when I read it, but it was an eye opener.
A good book to recommend those just starting to study, although some of it may be confusing to those not very family with "the truth".
Job A Comedy of Justice was more disturbing and life changing for me...and that was fiction.

A Terrible Accident- Report
by Rod P inhere is what someone emailed to me:.
it is terrible to find humor in someone else's misfortune, however, the.
victim here seems to accept full responsibility for making the choices that.

That first one has been around for years. The first time I heard it was at a work thing, it was the ice breaker story...this was about 10 years ago, and apparantly it was ancient even then....haahaha I still get a kick out of it though.

ahhhh....I am a WoW Widow...spend more time talking to the back of my husband's head than to his face.
At least Guild Wars is free right? WoW is 17 bucks a month...not that there is anything wrong with the game. Looks pretty cool. I just have an issue with the time husband plays on it.

Triathletes? Anyone?
by Princess ini was surprised at the number of people who popped in with running advice for vitty.
i didn't realize we had so many runners on board here.
i'm getting ready for my first triathlon next month and find myself wondering if we have any triathletes around here..... i have wanted to complete a tri ever since i ran the 1/2 marathon portion on a tri relay 1/2 ironman in 2003. i've shied away from them because the swim totally freaks me out.

I love watching triathalons on tv...when I was a kid I always thought about trying. I used to be pretty good on the bike, but even though I did track in high school I was never a good runner. (It was the only sport you didn't have to try out for). Now, if they allowed water wings and other floatation devices, maybe someday I could just do it hahah.I finally joined a gym again (went to the local city rec center..about a 20% the cost of 24 fitness)...anyhoo. I have only been a few times. I finally quit smoking about two weeks ago, and haven't felt up to doing much more than walking around the indoor track.
The last time I went, I took my 5 year daughter with me. She had designated herself my "trainer" and "coach". She walked ahead of me on the laps, and the last lap we took turns passing each other. Made it a lot more fun for me, and she makes me keep a brisk pace because per the rules she can never be more than an arms length away..and she is a fast little kid. I hope that this will encourage her to stay active.
Anyway...maybe by the time I am 40 I will be in enough shape to try one of those triathalons...I can be one of those peeps that just needs to finish, hahah....=)
I am in awe of you Princess...good luck!
=)
Billygoat,
You are so lucky your husband will walk with you. My guy is a good husband, but I think in 6 years of marriage I could only get him to go for a walk with me once. I tell him that is what I want for bday or xmas or valetines day....a few weeks of walks...but I never get it. Sigh.

What should I do about my brother??? I'm going insane.
by sonnyboy ini'm at my wit's end right about now.. my 24 year old brother is staying in my home as a roommate.
when i bought the house 5 years ago everything was fine; he helped with the housework, cut the grass, and was fair with the amount of 'house food' he'd consume.. time changes everything.
he now does nothing inside the house: no dishes, no vacuuming, no dusting, no anything.

Pack his bags for him, change the locks, and drive him to a homeless shelter and drop him off.
AND DON'T LET HIM BACK IN!
He is disrepecting you as he did his parents because he can get away with it. You shouldn't put up with that.
Feed the fish to the reptliles...that takes care of part of the pet problem (okay..just kidding there).
I know this is all easier said than done. My mon is in a similiar situation with one of my brothers. She is moving out of state soon to take care of her parents. My brother is supposed to pay rent on the aparment, (she owns the duplex, upstairs is one of my brothers and his family, and downstairs will just be my younger brother). The problem is that 75% of the time my brother doesn't have a job. I think he may have one now..it changes every other month. My mom has been delaying her move because of him and my youngest sister...but since the sister is going to live with me, she only has to worry about him. She told him she is going this fall, come hell or high water...and he better pay up on the rent.
I dunno how it will all work out.
Let us know how you make out...maybe he will shape up if you have another talk with him, but I doubt it.
