wouldn't it be nice if people actually realized that?? while i was in the org, i always felt like i had to 'have everything together.' you weren't allowed to make mistakes. that's such a big part of growing up and learning about yourself. even making mistakes in a relationship is sometimes beneficial. i dated a guy (non dub) for a year and a half. we really do love each other, but have come to realize that we just can't make things work. our priorities are so totally far off from each other. only time will let you realize that. unfortunately in the org you're not given the luxury of time....

JWs and Stronger Marriages?
by Pubsinger ina bit of a follow on from the "honesty" thread.. another claim that jws make is that they have stronger marriages and are less likely to divorce.. try writing down all the jw couples that you know of that have divorced.. there are bonus points for those who didnt make 2yrs!.
i think you will be shocked at the number you can come up with.
we came up with 60 couples in less than 20mins.

off the top of my head i can only think of one couple from my old congregation that had gotten divorced. then about a year or two later they decided to get remarried. ended up being miserable as ever. i still haven't a clue what ever ended up happening to them.
as far as dubs getting married too young--i totally agree with that. my mom always insists on keeping me up to date on who's getting married, having babies, etc. as of late, it seems like all the people i know that are getting married had graduation parties last summer. are you even legal to buy cigarettes yet? lord knows you can't even legally drink at your own wedding reception!! if only they would do away with the silly 'no sex before marriage' rule i don't think you really find out who you are until your early 20's and some of us are still finding out who we are.

Online love
by StinkyPantz indo you think it's possible to fall in love with someone online?
assuming they give you a real picture of themselves and are honest about themselves.. is it possible to love this person before you meet them?
i'm not talking about the kind of love you share with your friends, i'm talking the real deal.

i think it is possible. i met my now ex-boyfriend, not online, but over the phone. i had a sales/tech support/customer service job. he worked at one of my larger accounts and we talked on the phone everyday for 3 years. we definitely liked each other before we met face to face and had cultivated a special bond. i really wish things could have worked out differently and that we could reach a compromise to be together. even so, we remain very close friends.

Southwest Air...Marketing Blunder??
by teenyuck injust saw this on msnbc....got the story from the web site.
the association to accept fat people (or something like that) is protesting and asking how this determination will be made?
make people climb on a scale or measure their butt?

hey, i didn't make it up. my friend lives in NH and that's honestly what they call people from boston and massachusetts. i was fine here first. i made one sarcastic comment and this turned into an attack on me. i really do like children, but if you're going to have them, then you must choose to be responsible for them. you SHOULD be aware of what they are doing--ESPECIALLY when you are traveling in a cramped and crowded area like a plane. with all the extra security people already have short fuses. i choose not to have children at this point in my life and there's a reason for that. i shouldn't have to deal with someone else's bratty kids because they can't!

oh cripes, you're a masshole (you should know that's what the NH people call you). that explains it.

you said it Six!!
what was obviously meant as a sarcastic remark was taken seriously by some. the point of the comment was that i get irritated when i travel and people DO NOT take responsibility for their children. growing up, we NEVER would have acted that way in public--witnesses or not.
andee, i think you're being a bit harsh by bringing up my 'embarrassing' story. it has nothing to do with this thread. i'm young, and yes i do, have, and will make mistakes. i never dated anyone with a child before and assumed that the father of the boy would have the better judgement. apparently i was wrong. i'm sure you've made your share of mistakes too, so don't be so quick to cast the first stone.

andee, thank you for putting that so eloquently--wasn't my choice not to lock the door. and billygoat--i did try looking back, then looking back and asking if the child could please stop. didn't really work. i don't have kids.....yet. perhaps that is why i don't have patience for people who raise children that are impolite.

completely OT....leech infection!
by scootergirl inokay.....now this thread is completely off any topic i have seen here before...but i am just in shock over an infection that my 9 year old son got w/in hours of swimming at an area lake.
my kids went swimming for about 4 hours yesterday and my middle boy, james, found a leech in his belly button on the ride home.
he didn't think anything of it and pulled it off.

i think if think they should start keeping children in cages on flights. it always seems that i get some little kid behind me that insists on kicking the back of my seat or playing with the tray table. hmmmmm......kennels could prove to be very promising.....
