  A look into the devil's workshop

  now we all know for you who have attended meetings at the kingdom hall and heard speakers from the platform give us bible verses and telling us that the ruler of this world is the devil of which i firmly believe due to the fact that this world is completely warped.. .

  doesn't it strike you funny to see that satan who makes the rules for his system can't keep them and tries to manipulate rules and regulations always in his favor and that of his seed.. .

  #1 example- did you know that according to the bible that satan's agents keep transforming themselves into agents of light.

  I simply can no longer close my eyes to the fact that the organization is run by a small group of imperfect men who can't seem to make up their minds. As they waver back and forth on matters such as organ transplants, blood products, what is allowable in the marriage bed etc. etc etc. millions of families are affected by what they *decide* in their office in Brooklyn. I really don't see how they get around the scripture in Matthew 15:9 where Jesus condemns the Pharisees saying "It is in vain that they keep worshipping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines". That is exactly what happens with the GB. They decide for others with their 2/3 voting system what becomes doctrine.

  Is God real to you?

  in a recent topic someone mentioned how much they have drifted from god since they "left the jw's.".

  as someone brought up in the org (inactive for several years)i have found this to be similiar in my case.

  i don't know how much i believe the fan/plug analogy (remember that in the live forever book?

  Married, but....

  today is valentine's day...a day to share with your partner.

  today is bittersweet for me.. my husband is a wonderful man....intelligent, a gifted musician, kind, handsome....and an alcoholic.

  he spent the day drinking, and i spent my valentine's day evening eating supper alone in front of the tv.. tomorrow is my birthday.

  Happy Birthday though! February babies are cool :) My dad, brother, grandmother and aunt were all born in February. And amethyst is a lovely stone!

  Hi Alias,

  Your feelings and story almost exactly mirror mine. In an earlier post when I first introduced myself to the group, I too described my feelings of growing up as a JW and going to all the meetings and going through the all the motions, but not *feeling* the same way the others around me apparently did. I would sit at the KH and think "what is wrong with me that I can't feel this in my heart?" For the longest time I thought there was something wrong with me! But the longer I'm away <It has been at least 5 years since I have been *active*, but have been to a few meetings here and there> the more I realize that there is absolutley nothing wrong with my heart. For the first time I'm actually starting to perhaps *feel* some love in my heart for a creator/creators. For some reason as one of JWs this feeling NEVER surfaced...I always felt so dead inside. And the more stories I read here on this forum, I also see that I am by no means unique in my situation! I have been thinking for the past few days too, how much closer I feel to Jesus than to anyone else in the bible. His teachings were so full of love and true peace. I'm new to this unbiased studying of the bible, and boy is it a wonderful sense of freedom!

  Welcome to the group!! I too was raised as a JW. Was never a regular pioneer, but aux. pioneered off and on. I haven't formally DA myself yet, but have no plans on returning to the religion that follows the whims of a few select men that sit in an office in Brooklyn. There are some great folks here in this forum and I love coming here to chat and share thoughts.

  Another pagan ritual JW's practice

  i recieved this in an email this morning: thanks, man.

  it was the accepted practice in babylon 4,000 years ago that for a. month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink.

  mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month or what we know today as the honeymoon.. tr

  I agree too. It always seemed so odd to me, and though they tried to explain it using the God is a God of order scripture, it never made sense.

  Actually though, even though some of the songs are silly <interesting side note song 117: marriage is gods arrangement, can be sung in its entirety to the muppet show theme song. really...try it> And song 220: Our paradise: Present and Future sounds exactly like a hula song :)
  But for the most part I really liked singing the songs <Even though most of the notes were waaay outta my reach.>
  Some of them are quite beautiful such as 115: Have intense love for one another, and my favourite song is 77:Jehovah is my shepherd. I think if I never go back that the songs are one of the things I will miss most. Oh geez now I'm getting all misty eyed Somebody slap me quick.
