  Grounds for Disfellowshipping?

  hey all,.

  i'm sure this topic has probably been covered before, but as i'm in this situation now i'm hoping maybe you can offer your thoughts.. i'm just curious, what are actually grounds for disfellowshipping?.

  i'm to the point where i no longer believe that jehovah's witnesses have the truth, but if at all possible i want to avoid the big *d* word, as most of my family and my husbands family are still jehovahs witnesses.

  hey all,.

  i'm sure this topic has probably been covered before, but as i'm in this situation now i'm hoping maybe you can offer your thoughts.. i'm just curious, what are actually grounds for disfellowshipping?.

  i'm to the point where i no longer believe that jehovah's witnesses have the truth, but if at all possible i want to avoid the big *d* word, as most of my family and my husbands family are still jehovahs witnesses.

  LOL! I know just what you mean. Have had some of those same tears m'self. At first they come from confusion and guilt...then once things start to come together in your mind the confusion leaves and the tears are frustration borne.

  now we all know for you who have attended meetings at the kingdom hall and heard speakers from the platform give us bible verses and telling us that the ruler of this world is the devil of which i firmly believe due to the fact that this world is completely warped.. .

  doesn't it strike you funny to see that satan who makes the rules for his system can't keep them and tries to manipulate rules and regulations always in his favor and that of his seed.. .

  #1 example- did you know that according to the bible that satan's agents keep transforming themselves into agents of light.

  But Spec, It's not the fact that they are imperfect men that bothers me. No one on this earth is perfect. What bothers me is that admittedly imperfect men <a group of about 10 men> Get together and vote on things that are going to effect millions of Jehovah's Witnesses lives, and these Jehovah's Witnesses, if they wish to remain a member in good standing must adhere to whatever *rules* these imperfect men come up with in their secret meetings. They vote! sometimes a change in doctrine or *new light* is opposed by almost half, but maybe theres a vote of one that allows it to pass. How many Jehovah's Witnesses needing organ transplants died in the span of time that the governing body declared that organ transplants were againt Gods law 'til the time that *new light* appeared and said it was ok again? That is just one example of the mercurial nature of the *governing body*
  This religion has only been around for about a generation and a half <it just seems like an eternity> and in that time there have been so many examples of inaccuracies, back pedalling and changing of doctrine.
  I cannot give this imperfect, vascillating group of men the blind, unquestioning devotion that they require! I'm not sure, but I'm almost postive that God, who is a God of order would use a little more stable method to administer his requirements to all of mankind.

  I can be a HBH! Did anyone ever mark on their service record that the householder was HBH? You know how NI was not interested, NH was not home etc. etc. Well my fave was HBH....Home But Hiding I'm gonna try it hehehe.

  About a therapist, that reminds me of a time about 15 years ago I went to see a therapist and I remember telling him way back then that this religion was going to drive me crazy. As I sat there talking to this guy, it struck me how odd it was talking to a complete stranger about my problems...so I said to him "How can you do this day in and day out, listening to other peoples problems...doesn't it get extremely stressful?" And he told me he just doesn't take his job home with him. I didn't go back, but I found out through the grapevine that he died the following year of a heart attack. Yikes!

  Anyhow...I sure do ramble don't I? lol It's funny though cause I did tell them that I'm having trouble with depression and stress and I needed time to think...but eeeek they keep coming...one elders wife brought me the depression tract the other day and sat there and read from it. I told her I couldn't think about it right then, and she said "Well maybe you can have your husband read it to you when he gets home from work" hahahaha! Oy Vey! Now they think I'm so bad I can't read and need hubby to do it for me. I think I"m going to start my own program called *The Witness protection program* Only instead of hiding witnesses, It will be used to hide FROM witnesses.

  the very first scripture cited under the "sharing on a judicial committee" in the elders book is duet.

  1:16. here are a million questions!

  how do members let the higher -ups use a scripture from the ot where moses was speaking to isreal, and completely disregard jesus' words?

  You go girl!!! I believe what we are now going through is called righteous indignation. If it irks the heck out of us, imagine how POed God must get about it. Hypocrisy abounds in Brooklyn. Whether they mean to be like this or not, the effects on peoples lives are the same...and it's just plain wrong! So vent away, I have been too...hehehe. It's good for the soul

  You know, I realize that men are imperfect. It's just that I don't see how an organization such as JWs <which i grew up in btw> who are governed by imperfect men, can claim that ALL the decisions they make are given to them by Gods holy spirit and therefore all their followers have to accept what they say *OR ELSE* When they obviously <I'm not saying that they don't have good intentions> are making it up as they go along, and change their minds from year to year, and in the mean time people who choose to listen to them exclusively as though they were Gods, Die or lose their marriage mates etc. as a result.
  As I said before...It's not that I don't realize that men are imperfect...It's that I take great issue with an orginazation of imperfect men claiming to be moved by Gods holy spirit, who vascilate between doctrine to the injury of many of their followers. It is just plain wrong.

  Thanks for your suggestions all. I think maybe I will try telling them that I need a break for a while, and see how that goes...That seems like a way to make them take it easy on me, with it seeming like *my fault* and not theirs. Perhaps that might assuage their need to *help* me Just checked my email Latte...got it! Thanks

  I'm to the point where I no longer believe that Jehovah's Witnesses have the truth, but if at all possible I want to avoid the big *D* word, as most of my family and my husbands family are still Jehovahs Witnesses. The congregation where we are here <I have only been a handful of times since we moved here a year ago> Knows that something is up, and the elders/elders wives are coming 2 or 3 times a week to visit. My question is, can I tell them I don't want them coming by anymore, without it being a big deal....Or are they required by some elder law to dig deeper into my reasons for this request. And if they do dig deeper and I refuse to answer them, can they take some kind of action? The more I type here the madder I'm getting lol, it's really infuriating the control over peoples lives they have! If this isn't a cult I don't know what is. I feel like a spy trying to get across enemy lines without being discovered. Truly pathetic.
  If anyone has any experiences with a situation like this maybe you could offer your story, or suggestions.
