Hello y'all, Mr. Flipper here again. My son told me when he was a teenager in the witnesses, it was common for elders' teenagers to get away with doing things non elders children couldn't. Like it has been emphasized on these sites many times it's all about appearance being a witness. Some of the threads even before this one verify that. A lot of times it was just a question if somebody gets caught or not. Fortunately, my son was smart and got out of the witnesses

I quit- Very good subject! I remember 4 years ago when my 18 year old son came to me and said his mom, my ex wife was kicking him out of the house because he didn't want to go to meetings or out in service anymore, and he had a non witness girlfriend. He came to me in tears, and I told him" Son, I don't care what you believe, I love you, Your my son, you're always welcome to live with me". We should allow our children to make their own decisions on their lives, not forcing them to do or believe something because somebody says it's the alleged "truth". They have to find out it's not, let them do it!! Props to other parents who believe also in questioning things and letting your intelligent young ones do the same. Never been into mind control, it's devastating to youth's and adults. Peace out ,Mr. Flipper

Are some of us still judgmental and think ourselves morally superior?
by nvrgnbk inis a certain "uptightness" creeping into our community?.
should we be scolding one another?.
especially kids?

Nvr- Mr. Flipper here.Boy howdy! Lots of views, huh? Well, I certainly have no reason to feel morally superior. God knows I did enough harm and made mistakes when I was young! But as one gets older I've seen the need to put a few more deeds on the credit side of the ledger, helping people when we can, by either our own dumb experiences of the past ,or trying to steer them from repeating maybe hurtful things we ourselves experienced, to ourselves or others. I see a lot of people offering good advice on this thread out of concern for mincan. I think that's the majority view. I tend to agree with Mary and others who say that alcohol abuse can be an evidence of deep pain within an individual, does'nt justify the behavior mind you, however it can lead all of us on this site to encourage the young man to deal with his stress in a more profitable way. The first time I got drunk I made a burden of myself. My closest grandmother had died, I was 21, didn't want to go over to my grandparents house and see my mom crying her eyes out, so I dealt with my pain by sitting drinking a pint of Kentucky Whiskey slowly, listening to depressing Simon & Garfunkel songs, trying to piece things together. Finally felt guilty not being with my then wife and parents, so completely S$It faced , ( pre DUI era 1980) drove about 10 miles to their house, stopping along the way to throw up on a side street. ( You can tell I had never been drunk before). When I got to my grandparents house I was in tears, nose bleeding from the force of barfing, told my parents, wife, and sister I was so embarrased, but couldn't deal with seeing mom sad over this. Then my older sister took me to wash off and everybody was understanding about it, under the circumstances. So in a nutshell my take on Mincan is ,hey, he made a mistake, encourage him, pm him if we have to, to help him see we care. It is what real love is about, it was shown to me once, I learned a lot from it. Peace out, nvr. You have our love bro. Mr. Flipper

Hello, Mr. Flipper here. I thought Joanna Dandys comments were pretty much right on. At first you don't introduce yourself as a ex-witness. However , if you are intending to form a relationship with this person, you would want to be honest about your past as you would want the person to be with you. Just don't make a big deal about having been a witness, everybody was something in their life before meeting, we all have as you say"baggage". But it's how we deal with the baggage that counts, if we've learned to handle it. So just let your prospective partner know you don't believe that way anymore, that's why you got out, and move on and enjoy your life!. It worked for me and Mrs. Flipper!. Good luck, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Hello ya'll Mr. Flipper here again. Thanks for all your responses. Confession time. Have to admit that as a teenager being raised in a strict witness household, with an elder dad, Mr. Flipper got a little wild at times with typical teenage stuff. I had this witness girlfriend and we had some rural territory which I on purpose would ask to go work with her in. But, a lot of times we ended up working each other instead of the territory, got a little side tracked. Never went all the way, just making out and other sundry stuff. At least I got to count my time! Gawd, I was bad!! Peace to you all, Mr. Flipper

Nvr & Bigdreaux- I agree with you that depressing music helps your emotions out. I've been listening to Pink Floyd for years, and the Moody Blues stuff, actually saw them live 3 times. Some of these groups use a lot of minor chords in their music, you know the serious depressing chords, but it sounds so damn good. That's why I like "Stairway to Heaven "so much. Zeppelin"s "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" was also one of my all time favorites. Gawd, I would have loved to seen Zeppelin live. Mrs. Flipper and I saw Led Zeppagain a Zeppelin cover group on our second date early last year. It helped us consumnate our relationship, if ya know what I mean
