Thanks for the replies ya'll. Keep em' comin' please, and we'll compare next week. Brinjen, I agree with you definitely on Michael Hutchence of INXS. I have a lot of their music too. Do you have the new one that came out in 2005, Switch with the new lead singer? It was eerie how much he sounded like Hutchence at times. But he's good too. Peace out to all of you. Mr. Flipper

What has Worked for You When Trying to Reason with Witness Relatives?
by flipper inhello folks.
a loaded question for sure.
after being out of the org.
-

Hello, thanks for your comments. Moshe- I think it's true, the witnesses believe in staying with what they do if they have nothing better. It's the old,"Don't change horses in midstream concept". They have no reasoning ability, can't argue when they close their minds. Eclipse- I agree they should read crisis of Conscience, but don't ya think we should leave out the rope? Gill- Yes. Just let them be in their own beliefs if they want. And we have just as much right to not be. My exwitness son and myself dropped by my witness daughters house, shes 20, and just left a note saying we were thinking of her, just wanted to say hi. We were passing through that town on the way home from work. So I'll just do that to let her know I care. What else can I Do? Peace out, Mr. Flipper

JW Daughter- Mr. Flipper here. I was raised in the JWs for years, I was a jw elders son. Believe me you still have time to catch up on those regrets you have. Don't blame yourself, it wastes energy you have to help bring this cult down. Enjoy life in the here and now, and just be a decent person. You really can do this while exposing a mind numbing cult, all at the same time. Peace to you, Mr. Flipper

I don't want to Die in this system!!
by Save My Soul ini have noticed many of my parents friends are slowly passing away.
the daughter of a po told me he became inactive a year before his death because he never thought he would die in this system.
he started smoking and watching porn as well.

Save My Soul- I remember a friend an elder, good family friend who used to take me out in service as a teenager and he made the statement," Have you ever been to a funeral in other religions where they believe in going to heaven? Alot of them are still crying at the funeral because they don't really believe in a heaven or that they'll be there to rejoin their dead loved ones. If they really thought so and so was going to heaven to recieve their reward, wouldn't they be happy? So deep down, they don't believe it, they know they're going to die." The irony in this is the witnesses are just as confused, however they have such strong misguided beliefs that they really think they will live in a paradise and welcome these people back. My wife and I went to a witness funeral 4 months ago, and everybody was happy, smiling, acting like it was a promotional party for the jw concept. Sickening! The only ones who were sad the lady died were her relatives who weren't witnesses. It's so weird how the witnesses take the emotion out of real mourning, because of a fantasy that will never happen! Sigh! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

The Ghost Dance and the Slaughter at Wounded Knee
by frankiespeakin inthe peaceful ghost dance started by by desparate indians hoping for freedom, from the the greedy white man and his government caught on and was adopted by many tribes which frightened the us government that an uprising was in the making which was brought to an abrut end in the slaughter at wounded knee i have collected several renditions:.
i did not know then how much was ended.
when i look back now from this high hill of my old age, i can still see the butchered women and children lying heaped and scattered along the crooked gulch as plain as when i saw them with eyes still young.

Frankiespeakin- Mr. Flipper here. Being part native american I have always studied what happened in History to many of our "brothers". It's truly insane how the europeans came over and took over the indians land and forced them out of their way of life, which as a whole was a more peaceful, law abiding way than the euro settlers. The indians were chased from their home, and the african americans were sold into slavery by their tribes and stripped from their home and forced into servitude in America. Unfortunately, there are many prejudiced attitudes in this country still. It's ignorant and a crying shame. Prejudice also occurs within religious groups. as the witnesses really don't accept anybody not subscribing to their views either. I wish there was a modern day "ghost dance" I could do to scare the hell out of the witnesses to open up their minds and stop their insanity! When the greatspirit in the sky takes his rest at night, I wonder what He thinks? I think we all know the answer! Peace out to you my friend and every human race on this planet, and the animals and earth as well. Mr. Flipper

Do You Still Call It "The Truth"? "The Brothers" etc.
by minimus in"when i was in the truth....".
"since i left the truth"..... do you still find yourself using jw terminology?.
-
flipper
Minimus- Mr. Fliper here. I subscribe to Seeker 4's view. When in conversation I always say when I was raised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, not the truth. Or I will say a person is one of Jehovah's Witnesses, never say they are in the truth, because they're not! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

People On This Board Have Feelings!
by minimus ini think it's easy to forget that our communication with others here can be very real.
we're not just "posters".
we're persons, real people--- and we have feelings and emotions.
-

Very nice, Very nice Minimus! In the words of Borat! Mr. Flipper here. I agree we all have feelings and I also try to be considerate of those feelings insofar as the poster is not personally attacking unjustly others on this board. I feel we are all a sharer in common experiences we have had in being perhaps shafted from the organization. Minimus one way, Snakes another way, Jk666, just to name a few, but we all have our burdens we've had to carry. That being said we should understand that what might be an important issue to one person, might not be to another person, because they have not gone through it in a particular way. In other words, I believe in being diplomatic as possible and appreciating all the variety of experience that's being brought to this forum. I feel we are all kind of in a big community of ex-witnesses here so let's try to understand as well as help others. That's all, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Bea (alias uncertain). Mr. Flipper here. I was raised as a Jehovah's Witness and can guarantee you they do not have the truth. You are right they will discourage individual ,independent thinking and research, because they want you to only look to them, the organization for guidance. This is common in cult like mind control organizations, so for protection of your own mind and thinking ability, I recommend to stop in your tracks, while you can! If you doubt their sincerity and honesty, then heres a suggestion, ask them about the child molestation settlement they just made with 16 victims who had to agree to a gag order and were not allowed to speak about what happened to them , even from elders. Believe me they are trying to hide this information from new ones as well as members to save face. More concerned about image than protecting more children. Ask an elder you know about it, I'm sure he will not go into great detail about it with you. In 48 years being raised in this I saw so much saving of face, hiding what really was, and damage control with important issues, I get sick to my stomach just thinking about it. Ya sure you want to join that? Good luck! P M me if you want more info. Peace to you my friend, Mr. Flipper P.S. You asked how to find the truth? Personally you have to find the truth within yourself and the answer will become plain in time. Believe me.

What sends you over the edge?
by restrangled inthere was a recent thread on spelling, sentence structure, etc., that was legitimate, but probably made other's feel stupid.. my question is, what is your personal pet peeve?.
i've got a problem with poor construction inside my home...i hate the trim work, some cut too short so it looks like mouse holes over the floor.
i had my kitchen redone and the layout was so unusual that i can't open a fridge door unless i pull it forward or push it back to open a drawer.

Organizations that are unjust and tolerate child molestion, then make some feel bad for reporting it, kicking them out of the church. Get's my blood boiling hot! Oh, was I talking about Jehovah's Witnesses? If the shoe fits wear it, I say

Why, exactly, are you here?
by animal inwhy, exactly, are you here on jwd?.
are you out of the jw's and still needing association with like people?.
do you lack the skills to have real friends in real life?.
-
flipper
Animal, Mr. Flipper here. I got on this board actually out of curiosity ,after my non witness wife joined to see how to deal with my family who is still in the witnesses. I ended up really enjoying reading about people who had gone through the same things I did in getting out of the org. I've been out 4 years and have never been happier. And as time has gone on, since this is like a support group, I enjoy helping others if I can with their situations they face, because having been raised in the witnesses, I can offer different angles on what's happening to some still sitting on the fence. I hope to bounce them off the fence and out of the mind controlling cult. Mrs. Flipper and I have friends, I've let the church go ,so that is not a problem . When I stopped going, I didn't look back. Was too pissed at the elders mistreatment of others and myself. So pretty soon I might tell my story in another thread. Peace to you Animal, nice to read your posts. Wife and I both enjoy them
