From all the experiences I read here, it just proves my point I never would have gone from ministerial servant to elder, because I'm too involved trying to get my 22 year old son a good college education. No wonder there are so many "dumb" elders. They never went to college, then their kids don't then the cycle of idiocy just repeats itself through the generations. If the witnesses last until 2100, doubtful, they won't even know how to fill out time slips anymore. Can't write! Oh well, poor babies! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

by justhuman inthis is a really good one.
an elder who was serving for more than 30 years, faithfull to the organization at all means, has lost his privelage due to the wt education policy.

What Advice Would You Give A JW Thinking Of Leaving Or One Who's Left?
by minimus inany thoughts?

I would say similar things as you said, be strong ,be prepared to be dissed or even disowned by those you felt were your friends and relatives. But also, I would say have some kind of a support system if possible to turn to. Another fading witness relative, worldly relative, friends, someone you can communicate with and get solace from, you will need it. Don't get dfed if you can avoid it, fade gracefully, as much as the elders will let you, and if you have family you want to stay close to that are still witnesses, quietly respect their views, but if they question your views , be careful what you say unlees you can trust they will respect your views. Anything you say can or will be held against you in a jc court of law.
And very important, do research on your own. Prove to yourself you have made the right decision by learning about the fallacies of the org. and their stands on blood transfusions, child molestation, etc. It will firm up in your own heart and soul that you have made the right decision leaving

Barbara's CD, the Three Year Rule & Pedophile Brothers. My comments.
by Seeker4 inok, i had initially intended on commenting on two things in barbara's commentary in another thread, that combined, make for an interesting scenario for jw pedophiles - then i was distracted by a question from purps, and decided i'd use this comment to start a new thread.
that is a hell of an avatar pic, by the way, purp.
if you're half as cute as that smile you're wearing, you must be quiet a heartbreaker!

Seeker- If the elders were "spirit" guided then they would open their minds to real experts in the field of psychology dealing with child molestion issues and pedophiles, and realize and learn that these perverts never get healed as Minimus says, they just keep repeating the same scenario as they move around in their travels. It never ceases to amaze me just how idiotic the Jehovah's Witnesses organization is in regards to feeling they are armchair quarterbacks or experts in fields that they don't have a snowballs chance in hell of knowing what they are talking about or facing!!
As I've told elders face to face, the danger in that is then they make decisions that either affect or infect somebodies life that can have lifetime ramifications of devastation. All the more reason I hope this crazy cult goes down , the sooner the better, so we can perhaps save our families from it of the (rant with a purpose class) !

CONVERSATION WITH MY JW SISTER LAST NIGHT......
by Mary inwell i guess this was a long time in coming, but yesterday afternoon, my family all got together and had a bbq at my parents' home.
when my parents left at around 6:00pm to drive my one non-dub sister home, my other sister and brother in law (former elder), stayed for a while longer.. we've never discussed my leaving 'the truth' a couple of years ago but she brought it up last night and we started talking about the religion.
everyone had been drinking but no one was drunk, so alot got said.

Mary- Mr. Flipper here. First of all I want to take this opportunity to tell you, your threads are among my personal favorites of many on this board due to your real honesty and forthright way to express things. No bs, great takes! Anyway, like Jeff I feel that ex-nj-jw is dead on too, about getting your Barbara Anderson cd reading it, then let your sister read it. She has already told you that is one thing ( the child abuse settlements) that she wants clarification on. Then go with that, that is an opening for you. I would not waste my time on any other of the other subjects, it just changes the subject so much that the objective you will be after gets lost in the shuffle.
It has worked with my 80 year old mom, a jdub for 55 years, and she is listening to what I've said about the molestation settlements. Ya never know sis, it just might work. I would definitely strike while the iron is hot and blow your sisters mind with the new cd release! Just my humble opinion. Good luck to you, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Did You See Brothers Use Politics to Reach Out For M/S or Elder Positions?
by flipper inhello folks.
valid question i believe.
in the early 80's 1979 to 1985 i was a m/s and stepped down after having 3 kids bang, bang, bang in late 20's.

REEFTON JACK- Just that word "clique" makes me cringe. I tried when a witness to look at people or have takes on people one by one. I was always more interested in one on one conversations with people as opposed to impressing a group by talking to appease the "clique". Perhaps that's why I was not in any "cliques". Yes it was always who you knew that got you appointed, not what you knew, or even your humble attitude. Pioneers did get all the perks!
JK666- I agree JK they'll never be able to wash the brown off I believe! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Any thoughts on "Secrets of Pedophilia in an American Religion"?
by restrangled ini received my copy at noon today and have just now had to quit reading.
i was appalled at the lengths the wtbs has gone to protect themselves in court.
especially in their objections to handing over documentation.

The Sh** has hit the fan.....
by ex-nj-jw inmom called me, she got my letter.

Ex-nj-jw- Hey, so sorry you had to go through that. Mr. Flipper here. Sounds like what I went through when my jdub family found out I was marrying " worldly" Mrs. Flipper. Ex wife and youngest daughter accused us of living together, which was untrue. Didn't stop my super righteous ex bethel elder brother from condemning me without any evidence in a nasty letter," you are no longer welcome in our house until you turn back to Jehovah!". Also my superdub older sister,ex gilead graduate," You need to explain to your fiance why your family won't talk with you". I said," I did, she thinks it's stupid."
But my mom and dad are fine with me and support me and still talk with me. Two grown daughters who won't have much to do with me in spite of being cleared of all charges by the elders. So yes my friend, hang in there, sounds like your dad is a kind and understanding man. Your mom sounds like a fanatic, much like my ex wife still a witness. At least it sounds like your family knows that about her though, I hope they support you in spite of her. Peace to you my friend, good luck, Peace out, Mr. Flipper

A warning would be fair
by greendawn ingiven the often devastating consequences of disassociation and disfellowshipping isn't it fair that those studying with the jws should be explicitly warned about these precedures in advance so that they know where they walking into?
so that they would be able to better judge whether they want to become jws and potentially risk losing jw family and friends at some future time?
how many of you would get baptised into the cult if you really knew about the policies of dfing and shunning?
-
flipper
Greendawn- Such a good thread to start. Way to go! I think that once in as you say it is too late to be warned and that's why I used a threatening attorney approved, " I'll sue your a$$ off type letter" to the appeal committee when they brought me up on bogus charges at a jc this spring. Like I've told others I was not going to allow the elders to determine whether or not I could see my 82 year old dad and 80 year old mother who have been in the org. for 55 years. The elders were not going to be allowed to control that relationship too, damn control freaks. The fight paid off, I'm still fading quietly, they overturned the charges against me.
Yes, they should warn new ones about the shunning, as they are so willing to tell new ones that the brothers and sisters are the most loving people in the world. Then at the first sign of imperfection in people new ones freak out because the alleged "love" there has been put on such a high pedestal, the new ones don't know how to feel when they don't see it. It would be better to be truthful from the get go with them

The warm and fuzzy, snuggly, cuddly thread.
by nicolaou inokay i felt a bit sick typing out that title but having been a wee bit 'prickly' in my last few threads i thought i might try this on for size - not sure how well it's going to suit me.. what makes you feel content?
at peace and restful?.
i just spent the last couple of hours reading in my recliner.

Things that make me feel warm, fuzzy, cuddly ? First of all Mrs. Flipper, also watching a good movie curled up on couch with glass of wine and wife in either hand or arm. We too like salmon grilled on the bbq. Also since we live in a mountainous area, our pet bigfoot or sasquatch is warm, fuzzy, not necessarilly snuggly, he stinks to high hell but can let out a hell of a shriek at outdoor parties!! But on to other things, Peace out, Mr. Flipper
