see if you can donate time to man helplines or help in any other practical way.
Thanks Sirona for the post.

i was reading the accounts and the reactions to minimus?
elder friend that was deleted because of a wts secret letter to the circuit overseers.
secret letters of this nature are part of what has led to my critical thinking regarding the wts.

You have worried me no end. I know the letter is old but I have seen even older ones dug out 'as required'. By the defintion given there, I could be disfellowshipped for even thinking the wrong thing.
Fortunately, I was in long enough to know the system inside out and am very careful what I say. Nonetheless, I had better be careful.

right now, i'm watching a movie on saint peter's biblical account in the bible on tbn.
you notice many differences.
one difference is that the acting is much superior.
I always found them an embarrassment.
I was once asked to be in one but managed to get out of it.

the bit about the 15 grandmothers had me close to tears, i can tell you!.
Strange one this. It certainly seems to seems to doing very well! Their income exceeded expenditure by over 600,000 UK Pounds in 2003. And, remember that even though they are a charity, it is no guarantee that they don't pay the trustees handsomely.
Details are at the following link;
It is also interesting to note that all the trustees are men.

in my opinion, there is definitely a new trend in the way the wts
deals with the medical use of blood fractions.
the most recent publication on this topic (e.g.
The whole issue is a farce.
Rather than spending countless hours reviewing the minutia of their petty rules, they would be better off getting some WTB&TS theologians to look at the whole doctrine from scratch.
Oops, I forgot. They tried the 'back to basics' approach once a while back and it ended up in one of the Governing Body being disfellowshipped.

i was just wondering if someone can be df'd for celebrating x-mas with their worldly husband's family?
i thought that i had successfully faded away but it was found out that i went with my husband to his family's home to celebrate.
being that it was his wish for me to be there and he is "head" of the family, do you all think that i will be brought in before a committee after three years away?
I doubt if they would take any action, especially if your husband has never been a Witness.
If you did, you could always use the Biblical example of Naaman. Naaman was a non-israelite who was cured of his leprosy by Elijah. He becomes a worshipper of the LORD but has a problem. The following is an extract from the account in 2 Kings 5;
said Naaman, "please let me, your servant, be given as much earth as a pair of mules can carry, for your servant will never again make burnt offerings and sacrifices to any other god but the LORD . 18 But may the LORD forgive your servant for this one thing: When my master enters the temple of Rimmon to bow down and he is leaning on my arm and I bow there also-when I bow down in the temple of Rimmon, may the LORD forgive your servant for this."
19 "Go in peace," Elisha said.
The problem with the Witnesses is they judge people rather than trying to understand them and their individual circumstances.

i've read on here several times about how jws are discouraged for doing charitable work for anybody other than jws, and that they are discouraged from contributing financially to non-jw charities.
are there some references to this in their literature that someone could point me to?.
also, i had a discussion with a jw about a recent relief effort some jws did in florida.
I yet to see any evidence of any JW "chartable" work at all.
As many have said in this thread, they may help their own but often with strings attached. When it comes to feeding and clothing the poor, they do nothing.
I can never understand the Salvation Army with their miltary style uniforms and ranks but I have the utmost respect for their charitable work. From what I can see they practice what they preach.

The "rules" are applied anyway the C.O. wants them to be. ............ I've seen this nonsense dozens of times. If they don't like you, they'll stretch any rule to get rid of you.
Ditto. The whole system is open to abuse.
There are so many written rules it is easy to find one to back up any arguement once the guns are out for you. Not only is the secret "Shepherding" book, there are literally dozens of 'letters from the Society to All Bodies of Elders". When I was Secretary, I re-organized and catalogued all these and suprised just how many there were. Whilst all elders have a copy of the Shepherding book, they do not have copies of the letters. Hence, an unsuspecting elder can often find an CO approach him with something from a letter of decades ago that he has never seen.
