I just can't see that they are hurting financially. The model is such as they just can't lose money - they might not be making so much - hence the down sizing. Eyeslice

Is the Watchtower hurting financially?

in my neck of the woods (which shall remain anonymous) the do and co have been circulating the rumour that the watchtower society is in financial straights and is being bled dry.
this must be very pressing.

would dubs ever go into field service if there was no record-keeping?

i dont believe it at all.

Some would, some wouldn't.
Even amoungst the witnesses it is generally acknowledged that housing to house witnessing is not a 'natural work'. In other words to be faithful to Jehovah we have to put aside our natural tendancies of shyness, fear of rejection, etc. Yes, a few like the field service but these are not the 'norm'.
Another, point, if there was no field service record keeping, they would find it difficult to appoint MS and elders. I no of no appointment that was ever made without having first examined a field service record. No matter how Christian the brother was, our body of elders always expected 10 hour plus before appointing as an elder, more like 12 to 14 hours if the brother had a family study (i.e. 10 hours minus 4 hours for family study = not such a good an example.)

Why the Jehovah's Witness religion will live on and on
by free2beme ini have read in here a few post, and would expect to see these kind of post.
where people hope the religion will end some day and perhaps then all that has happened as a former witness to us, will be stopped and the witnesses will see the error of their ways and life will be good again.
i never think they will end, and here are some reasons why i think this way.. third world countries thinking.

Also, there are also lots of people who love enforcing the rules and laws of the witnesses.
So as long as there are people who want the comfort of a rules based religion and sufficient people to enforce them, the relgion will live on.

Presiding Overseer Says They Will Ask If You Still Want To Be A Jehovah's W
by minimus inthe local needs talk on thursday discussed a few different things, according to my mom.
but the one that stood out most was that he announced that based on the new book, the elders will be checking on those that have not been associating with the congregation for some time.
they will ask, "do you still want to be a jehovah's witness?

This is a serious issue for those of us who do not associate any more but have family in and therefore do not want to end up dissassociated.
I have the elders round at my housing asking similar questions in the past - like "do you still believe it is the truth?" I try to be very vague with my answers. I try to turn round with comments like "we all need to have a personal relationship with God based on the truth of his word the Bible which I believe". I must admit they get a bit confused with answers like that; they quite tell if I am saying I believe what JWs teach or I am simply saying I believe in God.

Because they regard themselves as God's only channel for dealing with mankind, they do not support any external charity; religious or non-religious.

Does The GB Assign Someone To Make Believe They Are An XJW On This Forum?
by frankiespeakin ini think from time to time we have posters here that may be assigned by the gb to speak xjw speak and try to discourage posters from attacking the organization, or to just give up our internet fight to expose them, to just give up our efforts and forget about the wt.
if they did this they would have to keep close tabs on whoever they assign because they know that there is a great possiblity they may turn on them.
or perhaps they would trust no one except themselves and so you might even have a member of the gb actually posting in disguise.
