I thought the article on the new members of the governing body to shallow and strange.
Given that the 'annointed class' are supposed to have all been chosen by the mid 1930's, there is no explanationation as to how two men who started pioneering in the 1970's (and who therefore probably weren't even born in the 1930's) could be of the annointed.
The WTB&TSs myth, it seems, is self perpetuating.

The Watchtower Society killed my website
by Elsewhere inyou can thank the watchtower society for this.. here is an email from my hosting company:.
unfortunately it appears your site/account was involved in violation of using copyrighted material involved with watch tower bible and tract society of pennsylvania.".
as a result of this abuse and activity, we will be unable to reinstate this account for any reason.. in addition, due to the nature of this abuse and the risk of transferring sensitive or illegal content if we were to provide you your files, we will be unable to provide with backups.. it is unfortunate that this has occurred, and we are aware that more than likely this was not your intent to host, however the fact remains it did exist and complaints were made.

A couple of interesting questions:
1. Why do they object so much when 99% of everything that is published on the web has been in the public domain anyway, i.e. in Watchtowers, Awakes and other literature whaich are distributed free of charge?
2. Are any of the older books, e.g. by Russell and Rutherford still covered by copyright or has this now expired?

Do some people still think that you're a JW?
by JH indo you have the impression that some still think that you're a jw?.
let it be old friends or acquaintances or work collegues or even family, did you take the time to tell them that you're no longer a jw?.
i know that my cousins think that i'm still a jw.

This is an interesting question with significant implications to those of us who have faded/fallen away.
My business partner and work colleagues would not think I was a JW - so that's not a problem.
On the other hand, we as a family never get any visits from the brothers and sisters in our local congregation even though my wife is still very active. I have not stepped inside our local Kingdom Hall for over 2 years but I do support my wife by going to Circuit and District Assemblies. I also, again out of respect for my wife of 28 years, I go to the memorial though not to our local hall as I personally cannot stomach the hypocrisy of some the elders there.
I am sure if I committed some disfellowshipping offense I would still be thought of as a JW - as many of you well know you can be disfellowshipped years later!

There is another aspect of this discussion and that has to do with the 1914 generation.
The selecting of the remaining 'annointed/144,000'was supposed to have been completed by the mid 1930's. However, hand-in-hand with this doctrine was that the 1914 generation would see the end of this system. In my book, the 1914 generation is not the few lowly foot soldiers of WW1, a very few still are live today, but the polticians and generals that took an active part in the war. These are long gone!
The WTB&TS changed the 1914 generation doctrine in 1995 to a vague generation who would be alive at the time of the end but they have never addressed the somewhat embarrassing 144,000/1935/never diminishing numbers doctrine.

Can they get all the "I will accept/not accept the following blood factions" on.
the problem they have with the blood issue is that there are more grey areas than black and white. A simple no blood key ring is a waste of money/time.

To all the faders who still go to meetings
by What-A-Coincidence into the ones who still must go for family sakes .... what feelings/thoughts go through you at the meetings???.

My advice is just don't go.
Much has been written on this board about fading, da'ing and def'ing. But you will find if you have done nothing wrong (i.e. nothing they can disfellowship you for) and simply stop going there is very little they can do to you and probably will leave you alone after a while.

Hi Annalice
Ths topic is often broached on this board and you are quite right there shouldn't be any left. The idea that some of the '144,000' prove unfaithfull' and replaced by 'younger annointed' is just plain ridiculous.
However, the end hasn't come yet and so this strange doctrine still drags on.

Passing emblems at the memorial is a blasphemous secret ritual
by truth_about_the_truth inexcerpt from: http://www.whale.to/b/sp/russell.html.
"the wt society performs a secret ritual every year which is their primary ritual.
this ritual is actually the ancient gnostic (satanic) ritual of saying no to the body of christ.

Not sure about the basic premise of this thread.
What I do agree with is that JWs are religion with no rituals/rite of passages (no mass, no naming ceremonies, no birthdays, etc.). That indicates to me a religion that is not socially cohesive.
