I've thought of a few questions to ask when I have met with elders who may have been on my case but never had the bottle to ask.
When they ask "do you think that the organization is God's channel today?", you reply with something like, "May ask you a question, when did you last masterbate?" or "how often do you and your wife make love now a days?"
When you get the shocked response, "well that's a bit personally isn't", you reply "and so are my religious beliefs, they are between me and the Lord".
And there's another tip, use the expression "the Lord" alot - q: "do you believe that we are living in the last days" - a: "I believe we are living in the Lord's day and as Christians have to awake to that fact". It always throws elders, they are never quite sure who you are refering to. But then again, they are easily confused.

Disassociate or "Fade"
by done4good ini know this has probably been discussed before, but i would like to take a poll of your thoughts as to what you personally would do, disassociate yourself or just fade over time.
i've been in the process of "fading" myself since november of last year, (last meeting in january, and never going back).
i have been considering making it official though by formal letter of da.

Brooklyn Says they Need 40,000 qualified Brotheres
by drew sagan ini just mentioned this in another post but thought i would start a new thread about it.
my wife reminded me a few days ago that the bethel speaker at our convention stated that "the organization is in need of more than 40,000 qualified brothers to take the lead".
this basically means that brooklyn is saying that every congregation in the world is down 1 - 1.5 qualified brothers(?

stillajwexelder - so true.
Often at elders meetings I would comment on certain sisters and say "if they were men, they would be elders". The old crones just never got the point. -

The clue is in the question - cell.
Let's not get to thinking we are dealing with independant living creatures here who are sacrificed in the name of science. They are simply cells.

Mickey Spillane - JW Mystery Writer has Died
by fjtoth inassociated press and fox news:.
the writer, who became a jehovah's witness in 1951 and helped build the group's kingdom hall in murrells inlet, spent his time boating and fishing when he wasn't writing.
in the 1950s, he also worked as a circus performer, allowing himself to be shot out of a cannon and appearing in the circus film "ring of fear.".

JW or not - he sounds a bit of a strange guy in an organization that cannot handle individualism.

It's the same old rubbish again. My conclusion is that they care about no one but themselves.
One time sincere elder and person dedicated to God - not an organization

AuldSoul - I loved how the WTS official spokespersons declined to comment - Yes, very interesting as to why they declined to comment. It always smacks they have something to hid.
I have just re-read the Aug 2006 Awake - far from clarifying the situation, it appears to me that this has only added more confusion.

PO said automation and declining contributions reason for Bethel layoffs
by truthseeker inlast week at the meeting, the po, who has very close connections to bethel, said that he never thought he would see the day that bethelites were being sent home.
he said that the biggest two reasons he thought bethel were cutting back, was automation and a massive decline in contributions.
looks like you're right metatron about the contribution aspect being their achilles heel.

The WTB&TS is, as its name suggests, a publishing organization.
All organizations today are under pressure to reduce costs. And so surely the WTB&TS is the same. With modern type setting techniques, publications like the Watchtower can be translated and electronically typeset in one location and then transferred via the internet to remote locations and printed off in relatively small runs and distributed locally. There are dozens of other ways they can save costs - afterall, wit free labor, they have been a fairly wasteful organization.
I am not surprised that they can make savings.
The issue is about how they go about it and how they handle teir people.
If they were to say we are going to save the equivalent of 1,000 manual bethel workers over the next couple years but re-invest in people trained to provide basic health care in the third world, people who will spearhead poverty and deprivation in inner cities in the developed world, etc. then I could buy into that. -

Will there be a time when NO ONE will be able to become a JW anymore?
by JH in.
the witnesses always said that at some point in time, it will be too late to join, the doors will be closed.. do you believe that will happen, or is it just to scare the witnesses?
and what would trigger the watchtower to decide, it's too late?

Sure, that is what THEY would like you to think. One of the features of the control that the Society has over the rank and file is the fear of being cast outside of the congregation. The idea that a time might come when people are barred from the congregation because it is "too late" backs up this idea.
