Definitly in a resturant in Old Dehli. I had Dehli Belly for a week, lost 16 pounds and wanted to die!
Fader and I have probably eaten there too. On the other hand knew some great places in Delhi to eat.

there's this place here in town called "babe's".
its soooooooooooooooo good, but the only drawback is that the hamburger is more grease and fat than it is meat.
they'll actually take the dripping fat with the spatula and throw it back in the burger and start smashing it in.

Before I was an elder; never.
When I became an elder myself there were some things I felt I had to take to the body. On the other hand there were lots of things I didn't, handled them myself. I guess I really never really trusted some of the jerks who served as fellow elders.

i guess i've been away too long, the local circuit overseer is coming, or the local circuit overseer has come by already and got on the elders' backs.
i got word from a relative that the elders would like to meet with me for a shepherding call.
i guess to 'help' me go back to the meetings.. i need adivce on how to blow them off for the year.
I am in exactly the same situation myself. I stopped going to the meetings only 3 months ago and so have had loads of elders round to see.
Above all, don't say anything controversial; you don't want them to get any suspicions you are possibly turning apostate. I think the best way to 'put them off the scent' is to blame everything on yourself. I simply say that I can no longer see a place for myself in the congregation and until I sort myself out, I would just feel a hypocrite attending when I am so unhappy. You get all the "meetings, study and field services will help" advice . Just smile and nod. Tell them how much you appreciated their visit and you will think about things. They go away happy and you just ignore it.
I am sure as time goes on I will become bolder, I am no shrinking violet when it comes to speaking out. But as the good book says "there is an appointed time for everything". However, given our respective circumstances, now may not be the time to exit with a bang.

not too long back, when i was an elder still administering the advanced medical directive, i asked a question regarding blood fractions to which i never got a satisfactory answer.
if a brother or a sister agrees to accept blood fractions then we need to be aware that these fractions have come from donated blood, very often not just a single donation but the result of extraction made from multiple donations.
however, if i was found to be a source of a fraction that could save a brother or sister's life could i give blood in order to save them?
Scully,
Excellent point from someone who knows about blood first hand.
Does the WTS mention that blood fractions that are acquired from "large pools of donors" is the same as participating in an orgy? If that's the "logic" they apply, why is it OK for JWs to use fractions?
This large pool of donors does have its big potential downside. Many hemophiliacs contacted AIDS because of contaminated blood in the early days of AIDS. I remember when the Society used to make a big thing about the health benefits of not having blood. The change to allowing fractions derived from 'large pools of donors' sure blows that out of the water.

There is another aspect to this question which I didn't explain. That is, these blood fractions are only a small part of the donated blood. The rest of the 'donation' is not thrown away but will be used, e.g. as packed whole red blood cells for transfusion into acute blood loss patients. So as a witness you can accept part of the donation and not displease God but the patient accepting the part of the donation containing 'major' components is breaking God's law. I am sure the HLCs understand the donation/fraction system works but does not have an answer for this.

It seemed to me at the time, there was no way a witness in 'good standing' would ever give blood, no matter which parts were to be used. However, to only accept something and never to give back seemed selfish to say the least.

i thought some people might like to see a strictly bible-based dismemberment of the jw blood doctrine.
for some introductory material, see the thread:.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/7/67949/4.ashx.
Good points in the article. In summary, every prohibition in the Bible against blood involves a creature who lost its life at man's hands.
Sometimes I wonder if blood transfusions were just a new thing, would the current GB banned them. It strikes me that dogmatic rules which were made long ago seem slightly out of vogue with the current thinking on blood fractions.

no sympathy please.
generally, i never get depressed and am fairly resilient when having to cope with change.
all my life, i suddenly stopped everything last december.
hi guys and gals,
Thanks for all the positive support. As I said at the start, I am not too worried about things. I am pretty gregarious and being with new people is not a problem to me. I am sort that can always strike up a conversation with strangers on a plane and, heck, I disappeared of to a 3rd world country I had never even visited before for a year.
I see some challenges but you lot have generally been there and done that before me.
Thanks again.

in the book "your youth: getting the best out of it", it suggests that people not date until they reach maturity, which is usually in a person's early twenties.
was this enforced at your kingdom hall, or were there jws openly dating younger than 20 (not in secret)?
Another example of double standards here.
On the one hand, young people are supposed to wait for maturity before they get married but on the other you can be 'mature' enough as young as 8 to get baptised. There was quite a lot of pressure on young ones to get baptised at last years District Convention!
Different youngsters have different goals and aspirations. The mistake is to try and force a 'one size fits all' approach on people.

in 1954 the watch tower society released a new film,"the new world society in action,"which acquainted its "viewers with the magnitude of the society's organization, its institutions, its field activities, its large - scale conventions, its smooth, efficient functioning and the spirit by which it is moved.".
what its millions of viewers would never see was what went on behind the scenes.what has happened behind the watch tower facade, to real people, not just in the past, but in more recent years?is it a "spiritual paradise" as claimed?.
we all know of the way that the society has treated its own behind the scenes, such men as edward a.dunlap, respected registar of the society's gilead school.disfellowedshipped.raymond v.franz, governing body member, disfellowedshipped.william and joan cetnar, disfellowedshipped.william h. bowen ( silent lambs ) disfellowedshipped.. however, are you one of the "nameless others" who gave twenty, thirty, forty, fifty years and more of your life in devoted service, only to be demeaned in old age because you tired of a non - scriptural agender, or dared question the "anointed oracles" of the "theocractic organization".. behind the scenes, alcoholism is prevelant among staff members, there are the distraught wives of the headquarters staff, immoral behavior, suicides, this is kept hidden from the membership around the world.all of it is documented, yet, under threat of vilification and fear of man, many serve with mute obedience.. the new world society in action, is a facade!
Willyloman,
I guess it is getting a bit off subject but it is true elders meeting reflect the more unorganized side of the 'Organization'.
Before I was secretary, there were never any minutes taken or issued. Nothing ever got done properly because people were tasked to do jobs but then forgot. Often these were quite serious things like a brother being considered for an elder but some 'improvement' needed to made. Next thing you know, it would get round to the next pre-CO's visit, no action would have been done, so the poor guy gets overlooked once again.
