Friday District Convention notes: Control, control, control
by truthseeker inwell, one third of the convention is over, i had no choice but to attend due to my current situation.. the talks were worse than last year, and as usual if you have seen the program you will not find jesus in any of the talk titles - in fact, the only time jesus is mentioned is during a prayer or in connection with the ministry.. when you become aware of how sidelined jesus is, you can't help but notice that jehovah's witnesses are a modern version of the old testament religion - it's all about control, be attentive, obey the "faithful and discreet slave" etc etc, in stark contrast to belief and salvation through jesus.. only the talks with midly interesting material or that had ridiculous phrases used by the speaker are shown here.. friday.
9:50 be attentive to jehovah's promises of deliverance .
would you believe that this 20 minute talk was solely about being attentive to the program?

They are actually trying to tell us that we have to enjoy that sxxx that they call "music" before the program? And that they are supposed to pay attention to the lyrics when we sing the Kingdumb Maladies?
I never could understand how that sxxx even qualifies as music. They are intended to mislead people that should be self-leading. They are so poorly written and performed that they are worthless even for those who reason that people listen to them for the artistic merit. Yet the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger tells us that we need to pay attention to the lyrics. That is a fine waste of 20 minutes of the program. I never heard such insistence on paying attention to such pxxx poor "music(??)" in my life!
The music always reminds me of hitting the "DEMO" button on this :

Body Numbness
by Chameleon inlast wednesday, i went to bed at 1:30 am, woke up at 4:30 am due to food poisoning, and i couldn't go back to sleep.
i went to work, and when i got back, i went to bed at 6 or 7 pm.
i didn't wake up until the following morning, on thursday.. my body felt slightly numb, but i thought i slept wrong.

Re the food poisoning thing... I was just wondering if you'd had a confirmed diagnosis of food poisoning - and what type it was. ie. was it Lysteria, Salmonella, Botulism etc.
I was just hypothesising that if it were Botulism, then the weakness MAY be an after effect of it.
More likely though, the weakness could just be a post-viral response to a bug.
Good luck at the doctors.

embalming and baptism?
by Budda ini was never a jw, i was wondering if jw embalm people when they die.
muslims and i think orodox jews do not embalm.
if someone was injured or murdered they even put the bloody clothes with the body when they bury it.

Here in the UK, it is a requirement if the deceased is being taken out of, or brought into, the country.
Funeral Directors can insist on it for hygiene reasons if required, as sometimes a funeral can take several weeks from the time of death.

The Watchtower NEVER mentions the Olin Moyle case....becaue it LOST it!
Not exactly mentioned in a positive light, but it is still a mention - sadly the quotes aren't on the Watchtower CD, but I do have the Watchtower refenences. Old lighthouse Books have the 1944 Consolation mentioned, but it is in a batch.

This same day a sharp judgment of the great Lawgiver against the "evil servant" class (Matt. 24:48-51) was expressed at the beginning of the afternoon’s sessions. An ex-army officer of the United States appeared on the platform and asked and was granted the privilege to present a Resolution concerning one Moyle.
Said lawyer proved unfaithful to his position of trust m the Lord’s organization, slandered and abused the Bethel family at Brooklyn, quit his post of duty, and thereafter sued the Society and its board of directors and others for $100,000 for libel because the facts were published in The Watchtower for the protection of Jehovah’s witnesses throughout the land.
The Resolution condemned such course of action and such recourse to worldly courts as unscriptural, unwarranted and unjustified. Put to a vote, the resolution was adopted with a unanimous "Aye" by the vast assembly of more than 75,000. Thereafter copies of the Resolution were given free to all, to take home with them.

The full board of directors of the Society on August 8, by resolution, unanimously demanded that the president sever Moyle's connection with the Society Immediately. It was done. Bretheren will address their communications concerning their legal difficulties : WATCHTOWER BIBLE AND TRACT SOCIETY, Legal Desk, 117 Adams St, Brooklyn, N. Y.I will post the other references to Moyle later on.

My take on evidence like this is to see if it has been mentioned on the WT CD in a positive light.
If it has (like the Walsh trial) then it is surely fair game to be quoted to Witnesses.
