Jehovah's Witnesses and Myspace

i haven't been to a meeting in ages.

whats the rules on getting on myspace?

i ask because i added a friend of mine from my past congregation because he was cool with me, but later he removed me from his friends list.

Well, as me having left a few months ago....I can fill y'all in on Myspace!! IT'S TOTALLY CONDEMNED. Which is okay and makes sense if you're a witness cuz you wouldn't want extra association with Non-Witnesses, just as you wouldn't in real life-the logistics of it make sense IF YOU'RE A WITNESS, you gotta stay away from non-witnesses, and clearly, it would be hard to do that on Myspace with all the "friends requests" and all....

But at my last assembly, (not convention, assembly), Myspace was mentioned specifically for all Christians to get off it. Subsequently at my hall, there were about 4 talks that mentioned it (usu. had to do with the talks on youth and whatnot) to STAY OFF IT.

They called it a "Glorified chatroom." So, basically any Witnesses who are on it right now really shouldn't be on it. They know they shouldn't be on it, but if they are, shame on them. hehe. If they are, then they're most def. not a "strong Witness," cuz Myspace is basically Satan's chatroom.

JWs and the weird way they say Happy Birthday

you who don't know -- i'm daed but my mother still sends me very short e-mail about every two months.. this morning she sent me an email that said:.

25 today.

it would be sooooo wrong for someone to say -- "happy birthday" .. but its fine to mention that i am 25 today.

WELL, the Reasoning Book aptly asks us: "Do Bible references to birthday celebrations put them in a favorable light? The Bible makes only two references to such celebrations..." But John the Baptist's head was cut off and on another occasion, "the chief of the bakers was hung up." So OBVIOUSLY, "God's word reports unfavorably about birthday celebrations and so we need to shun them."

You shouldn't celebrate your birthday....I mean, you might get murdered and everything, according to the *Reasoning Book.* You wouldn't want that, would you?

Anyway, HAPPY B-DAY!

at the first convention/ assembly following your wedding ... did you parade around the convention site gloating in other sisters' faces, showing off your new husband?

i've never done it, but i can't help but suspect that others do.

Is the end really coming?

well, as anyone on this board knows i"m a newbie....and witnesses kind of are scaring me with their "end is coming" business.

Well, as anyone on this board knows I"m a newbie....and Witnesses kind of are scaring me with their "end is coming" business. Basically, cuz of three things:

1) The last convention was called "Jehovah's Day At Hand!" (or whatever the tract we put out about that was called-where we invited everyone to the assembly

2) the very last tract we put out "False Religion's End is Near!"

3) Studying the Revelation book now in bookstudy (Not me personally, i don't go anymore-but that's what they're studying in bookstudy now)

SO!..... It seems like everything is getting so concentrated, like the Society is... getting ready? Also, the way EVERYONE and all my friends and stuff were/are talking, like, "You can just feel we're SO close to the end. I mean, the SOciety is totally getting ready." And in all the recent talks, they keep saying stuff like, "We're not in the time of the end, we're in the last SECOND of the time of the end." Why is all their tlaking about the time of the end getting so concentrated? For those who have been in or left the org. for many many years, can you clue me in-has
"the end" always been so talked about like it is now? or is it just in their heads?

Did anyone get the old "counterfeit money" illustration?

a couple of my old witness girlfriends came over last night (note-i only recently left the org.

like 2 months ago, so people are still trying to get me to come back and "reason" with me)...and they used that stupid "counterfeit money" illustration.

i swear, every time i tell people i don't think it's the truth, they put that old illustration on me!

jgnat...WOW-I never even realized it till now- they may very well get rid of the blood doctrine-that would be the CRAZIEST thing I've ever seen-who's to say if it'll happen in my lifetime? (I'm 21)-not sure, but if they change it, then of course it would be "new light."

You're blowing my mind- to even think that they would EVER discard it entirely I've never thought about, but you made me think about it. thanks. Obviously, if they discarded it, then it should be obvious to anyone it's not the truth cuz a true God wouldn't let people just ho-hum die years ago due to the blood doctrine and then if things changed and you can accept blood or whatver now God would be okay with people accepting blood.

That's seriously scary! Yikes. Never EVER heard that before. Sure you're telling the truth? sorry...i don't want to offend you-it's just seems so hard to believe! I've been a witness my whole LIFE and never heard that! (21 years)....well, ex-witness now.

I hate that useless video. As a former JW now, it totally offends me. It's clearly fake because of all the points that were already stated previously. It's one thing to call JWs on their actual faults-it's another thing to completely put a fake video about them on the internet just to generate hate towards them.

Actually, my congregation was really reallly big- about 150 on a Sunday. But it didn't shrink or expand drastically, pretty much stayed the same.

YES! The whole "using illustrations" thing is ANOTHER mind control thing....Illustrations were extremely extremely powerful to me when I believed it was the Truth. But the thing with illustrations is that they're not bad in and of themselves, but to use them as frequently as the Witnesses do is NOT good because and illustration is just something that is a way of wording something that is an OPINION. They are not based in actual Facts and INFORMATION....Dangerous thing-them illustrations!
