iwas baptised in 1984 and have never felt like i belonged in jw land .have felt ashamed ,guilty, and worthless for 23 yrs .. i could never do it all.i havent been to a meeting in 6mos.but i have been reading these posts ,and i found out the jw .
make every one feel as i do.

I am new here too and I am loving what I am reading on this board. It makes us feel so much better and I feel like I belong here more than anywhere else. I was born into the org and never started to think for myself until lately. My husband left it 4 years ago and I should have listened to him way back then. Can’t change the past but can definitely live a better future.

did anything exciting or alarming ever happen at your hall?
i remember only funny incidents, like one brother getting up there with his zipper down.
(i knew alot of brothers after that felt no shame to actually check down there before going up on the podium!
I keep having stories come to mind, so here’s another.
When I was a teenager I was visiting my best friend and went to her meeting. The sister that studied with her was sitting in front of us. She was so prim and proper it wasn’t even normal. Anyways, she bent down and let the hugest fart you ever did hear. She quickly sat straight back up and acted like nothing happened. It’s funny when you hear a kid let one go, but to have a middle aged sister do it, it’s hysterical! We were the giggly type, so do you really think we could be quiet about it? Not really…

One time the C.O. was visiting and he was at the front of the hall after the mtg. He was coming down the 2 steps from the platform all smiling and ready to shake hands with another guy. In doing so, he tripped and said “Jesus Christ!” Then he’s like, “sorry about that”.
We all just kind of looked at each other and laughed later…

We had outbursts at assemblies. The one time that it happened we couldn’t really hear what the guys was saying, but as we looked with our binoculars, we could see that it was my cousin! Woops. He thought he was a prophet (when he would go off his meds) and would yell things at the guys giving talks about what they were saying was wrong. We only found out what he was saying after the fact when we talked with my aunt. Needless to say, the attendants were very quick to escort him away...

In talking to my mom about a local witness pedophile close to their home, all she could say was how Jehovah’s name will be dragged through the mud and how all that coming out in the news gives witnesses such a bad name.
We talked about it several times throughout our vacation and every time she would say that, I would say “but what about those children whose innocence was stolen and now they and their families are suffering for life?”
Each time was ignored and all she could say was what reproach would be brought upon the org. Sad to say, but how heartless can you get? I have kids, nieces and nephews, I wouldn’t put it past her to think that she wouldn’t react any different if it were her own grandchildren, which is plain scary…

here's a few-------jws are not "the happiest people on earth".
they are not the "most educated people on earth" in spite of their enrollment in the theocratic ministry school.. witnesses are not the best neighbors because they won't involve themselves with you unless they can preach to you.. .

They are NOT honest. I know many that cheat the system when it comes to collecting welfare, or working but getting paid under the table. Even the fact that so many think they can go into debt without any consequences because they feel the "new system" will be here. What a crock!
The list goes on and on. I also hate it when I'm talking with my family about things like that, when they say "Jehovah will take care of it in due time!"
So, yes i agree with anyone who said that witnesses are NOT logical...

why was there a group in every hall that pronounced some words like a bad english accent.
also why is it pretty universal, i.e.
Believe it or not, this happened at two different occasions, several years apart. The first time it happened was when the brother was giving his Sunday talk and was the part about Jacob and Esau, and how Esau gave up his birth right for a bowl of red stool.
And the second time it happened was when a brother was giving a comment during the WT study on the same subject and was very emphatic about that same bowl of stool.
yikes, maybe these guys should review in their heads what they’re talking about and how they should say it…
I just remember laughing so hard at both occasions and it still makes me laugh

Haven't been to a mtg in 3 months and never went to memorial. Broke the "news" to my sister last night and was told that I am considered dead to the family. Nice loving religion they've got going... (did I mention I am not even df'd, I have just faded and left on my own and they still have the nerve to treat me like I don't exist...)

i have a predicament.
i was wondering how to go about telling neighbors that i am now going to celebrate the holidays.
this time last year (when we were still new in our subdivision) it seemed to be one birthday after another here in my neighborhood.
I have a predicament. I was wondering how to go about telling neighbors that I am now going to celebrate the holidays. This time last year (when we were still new in our subdivision) it seemed to be one birthday after another here in my neighborhood. I was saying no left and right to everyone that invited my kids. As much as I felt stupid even at the time (still a witness) my neighbors respected my decision and the topic has never come up again. Nowadays, I would like to inform my neighbors that I am part of the real world now and wouldn’t reject their kind invites to their kids birthdays or any other celebration for that matter. I just wondered if anyone had suggestions, if they have gone through the same thing, as to how to even approach the whole thing.
