Ooompa, understand what you´re saying and it´s so true.
This place has been my rescue too.It´s almost inpossible for those who haven´t been JW´s to understand just how hard it is to get out and it´s so healing to have contact with the people on this board.
I too was very unhappy for a long time but today I can only say:

it has been pretty firmly established that the wts monitors ex-jw discussion boards generally, this one in particular.. on this forum and others, the strategy of "fading" is often discussed.
fading can be defined as gradually lessening one's activity in the congregation to the point where he virtually "disappears", becoming inactive & attending virtually no meetings.
thus, a more or less "normal" life can be achieved without the stigma and privations of disfellowshipping.. other ideas on how to get around the pain of disfellowshipping discussed on this type of forum have been discussed, if not in the literature, at least in boe letters.

i have a question about my religion.

Ah, by the way:I was a JW for more than 30 years-won´t go into details why I left, but I´m still a christian,don´t believe in trinity.

last week was a bit of a milestone.
missed the entire co visit for the first time.
son went out every day i think, plus pioneer meeting, plus ms meeting, plus three other meeting (i know they call it five).

when you see a car drive slowly in front of your house, do you still think it may be an elder coming by to see you?.
i remember a few years ago, each time a car drove by slowly in front of here, expecially around 7pm on evenings when there was no meetings, or on saturday mornings, i got away from the window, and looked outside from another window where i wouldnt be seen, incase it was an elder coming to see me.. if it was the case, i would turn off the tv so that there would be no noise when they would come to my door.
then they would leave after a few knocks.. since many years, they don't come anymore.. .
I can finally say,from my heart, that I´m not scared of them any more.
I have taken my power back.

my youngest son joshua had autistic tendencies and speech delay, he's four.
he can't start a conversation and he often does not respond when someone tries to talk to him.
but he's been repeating more words and he can read quite a few words too.
This brings back memories.....when David was 6 he LOVED xmas trees (then we never had one,so sorry about that now) so when I was pregnant with my youngest son we asked David what he hoped it would be, a brother or a sister....David thought about it for a long time and then said: I want a CHRISTMASTREE!!!
When we finally got our first tree he sat very quiet and looked at it- I could see that he was soooooo happy and content.
I understand how you feel for your special son- a big hug to the both of you!
