Quality of this Forum
by stevieb1 injust a quick thought - i am a firm believer in freedom of speech etc, but having been on this forum for some time i honestly can't say that i can introduce a doubting jw interested in true christianity to this board.
some of the deep discussions on jw doctrine are excellent, but everything else seems to be nonsense in my opinion.
why can't this site be more like the old www.witnesses.net which seemed to have more spiritual meat rather than backbiting, gossip, and rumour and even obscenity.. sorry for my frank opinion

Screen Name vs Character
by Amazing insince my character is part of the issues that have been addressed by several posters, i thought that i would clear this up:.
teejay said: conclusion: no more insulting than you when you mentioned that one has to wonder about someone who'd pick the screen name "amazing.".
i am not sure if teejay shares agreement with what he quoted, but for discussion sake, i will treat it as though he does.

"A Day for a Year": I Need a Beer
by Farkel ineveryone wants to find meaning and purpose in their life.
people who have been taught to believe in the bible seek stuff in the bible to give them meaning in their life.
some people make up stuff supposedly based on the bible to give them meaning in their life.. the watchtower society goes one step further: they make up stuff supposedly based on the bible to give their corporation meaning and importance in life.. far too many true believers have a difficult time accepting what should be obvious to any rational human: the bible meant exactly what it said.

"What If The WT Told You to...
by Francois in... get your gun out and go to any church of christendom on a certain sunday a few weeks after the publication date of the watchtower that was making the demand, and open up on the congregation?".
that question was asked of active jws in good standing by richard hickman, whom many of you know, when he was doing research for a book he was writing.
strangely enough, the most common answer went something like this:.

space.com dates Noah's flood to 2350 B.C.
by aChristian inthe watchtower society dates noah's flood to 2370 b.c.e.
they do this by following bible chronology quite closely, counting backwards from 607 b.c.e., their date for babylon's destruction of jerusalem.
however, as we know, the society's date for that event is in error.

When Revelation Turns Obsolete
by metatron inone of the reasons i thought armageddon was close at hand was.
the impending obsolescence of the bible as a source of revelation.. the bible was written within the context of a large number of.

The "Tree" of WHAT?
by Farkel inthe account of adam and eve as a literal event is so full of logical contradictions that it is mind-boggling.
it only takes a minimum of scrutiny to discover that fact, too.. there is something god did not want adam and eve to know.
he didnt want them to know the difference between good and evil.
