I am sorry for you and your family dealing with your mom's illness. It is very difficult and painful to just sit by and not be able to help. I know exactly how you feel. I was the only witness in my family. When I was still in my mother developed acute myelogenous leukemia which is treated with multiple blood transfusions, which she naturally had along with 6 mos of monthly chemotherapy. She went into remission. 6 months later the symptoms returned and they tried to treat it again, but were unsuccessful, and she died. Ultimately, the blood treatment bought her a year, in which for half of it, she was sick as a dog. As painful as it is for you, so long as your mom makes her choice knowing all the options, you have to respect her choice, however much you may disagree with it. The JW blood policy is wrong. They are blood guilty.

I am so angry and frustrated right now
by elinor ini cannot be very specific with this because i do not know who is patrolling these boards to try to catch faders (like me).
my mother has been very ill for a long time due to multiple health issues, all of them stemming back to a very low blood cell count.
before i even began to have doubts, as well as my father asking me about the 1975 debacle, i kept wondering why god (i can't call him jehovah now that i know the truth) would allow such a wonderful and selfless person to suffer if all they needed was something that was produced naturally in our bodies.

At what point have you crossed the "cheating" line?
by free2beme ini have been married for awhile, and in my 14 years of marriage i have seen many other marriages of friends and relatives, come and go.
most, if not all, were caused by cheating.
at work i work with a lot of people of different faiths, to no faiths.

My two cents worth:
Friends of the opposite sex is not cheating. Lunch in a restaurant with a co-worker is not cheating. Lunch with a co-worker in a motel room is cheating. A hello kiss on the cheek is not cheating. Sucking somebody's face/tongue is cheating. If you can't/won't tell your partner about it, or do it in front of him, it is cheating. Oral sex is definitely cheating. Anyone who says it is not is just deluding himself. Denial is the ultimate lie.

You Never Did Enough As A Witness!
by minimus inone thing that i will never miss is how you were made to feel inferior----that nothing you did was ever really good enough to satisfy the organization and of course by extension, jehovah god.
i know of sooooooo many witnesses that are truly depressed because they can never seem to satisfy god or the elders.. people even start getting mysterious illnesses and believe the "demons" are always trying to get at them.
the mentality is that "everyone hates us because we're jehovah's witnesses".

I know of sooooooo many Witnesses that are truly depressed because they can never seem to satisfy God or the elders.
That is exactly why I left 11 years ago. No matter how hard I tried, what I had to endure, was never going to be enough for them. I spent the first 10 1/2 years feeling worthless, hating Jehovah, and just waiting for the big "A" to come and wipe us all out. Then 6 mos or so ago, I found a wonderful online support group for ex-JW women (called Women-Awake (yahoo group---Hello, JA JAs). There I found out the Truth was just a Big Fat Lie, they are false prophets, their God is not the God of the bible, their positions child sexual abuse (I was very well aware of their tolerating spousal abuse, having had an abusive husband), etc., etc..
I am now beginning to re-build my relationship with the God of the bible, and have come to really appreciate Jesus' sacrifice for us. (Sorry if I offend anyone...don't mean to sound preachy).

If someone is going to buy you a birthday or christmas gift.....
by bagpuss inwould you prefer them to ask what you would like or to surprise you, and if they did ask for ideas would you be offended?
the reason i ask is that my mother in law has just told my husband that we may as well go back to how we were when we were witnesses and stop buying them presents as we don't put any thought into it and ask them what they want.
he is really upset by this comment while i am just plain bloody angry!.

I don't know what I would do. What a cruel, ungrateful woman. Personally, I would be crushed. I am also sure I would, at least, entertain the thought of never giving her another thing. I agree with misanthropic. I am always touched and surprised when someone gives me something...even if I don't necesarily like it. It's the thought that counts.
Besides, what if they asked for something you couldn't possibly afford? That would make me feel bad, too.

So many newbies lately. What drove you to finally post?
by OnTheWayOut inthere are so many newbies in the last month or so.
it's like spring cleaning.
at the old wts, time to push out the doubters and apostates.

I already knew the WTS was not the truth. The latest thing was Bethel Layoffs. I was infuriated that
they would treat their loyal drones with such disregard. Cast away the likes of me, I understand that,
but these were their followers, churning out their literature, cleaning GB members' drool off their bibs,
shining the brass in the lobby at HQ. How could I have even given so much of my life to them if they
treat their hardest workers this way?I haven't heard of this? Who did they lay off? All the old ones who worked for nothing their whole lives and now have nothing?
Unbelievable!

I believe that it was jehovah himself who sent that advertisement to me. thank you jehovah. Hahahahahahaha. Too funny!

No more fiendish punishment could be devised
by slimboyfat inno more fiendish punishment could be devised, if such a thing were physically possible, than that one should be turned loose in society and remain absolutely unnoticed by all the members thereof.
if no one turned around when we entered, answered when we spoke, or minded what we did, but if every person we met cut us dead and acted as if we were nonexistent things, a kind of rage and impotent despair would before long well up in us, from which the cruelest bodily torture would be a relief.

Slim, I could not agree more. How especially cruel when the one shunned is a born-into-it JW with no outside family or friends and/or employed by a JW.
Mouthy, I applaud you because you were courageous and brave to question outloud. I wonder how many are still in, knowing it is not the "Truth", but do not have the courage to voice their opinion and suffer the same fate as you.

anyone seen the new Spider Man movie?
by veradico inthe movie is full of action, gymnastic feats of superhuman dexterity and strength, humor, interesting characters, etc.
all one could ask from a comic turned into a movie.
the ending will leave one with a bad impression.
-
Tara
No, I haven't seen any of them, but I did see the commercial for Comcast (our local cable company). It features a spiderman and is so dumb it is hysterical.
