hello all... ok, i have a question for any takers: deuteronomy 14:21 says this:.
21 "you must not eat any body [already] dead.
so, it is obvious that this is why they could not eat a animal that they found that had died, say from natural causes.
Question:
I am trying to understand Deut 14:21 and Lev 17:15.
It seems to me Lev 17:15 is referring to a case where someone (Jew or alien) in hunting finds an already dead animal...is this correct? His eating in this case merely resulted in uncleanness.
Deut is talking about simply an animal that dies of natural courses- not in the course of hunting but perhaps an animal owned by a resident. In this case the Jew can not eat it but can sell it. Is this correct?
hi... i'm a newbie here.
i have been associated with jw's for quite some time however there is one aspect of being a witness that i can't quite come to terms with that is the prohibition on celebrating a person's birthday i have of course read the arguments for this but find them somewhat unconvincing.
is it really the case that everyone follows this direction?
I called WTS a few mins ago (for a bit of fun) to ask about birthdays. After being transferred 3 times and older man (who said he’s 50 yrs in the org) came on…I told him I am not a JW but was wondering if I could invite JW friends to my son’s b-day party, and if they went if they’d be dfed. He asked me if and how I am associated with the JWs. I said I am not. Then he proceeded. He never answered if they’d be dfed. He stated 2 bad examples and the murder resulting…then QUICKLY went on to talk about the day of ones death being better than ones birth and started to expand on that- a good way to change the topic. Added his point that JWs LOVE to talk to and be with people. And closed out by saying that JWs have SUCH a busy schedule.

my situation is this im going to be 21 in june and i'm in love with my boyfriend but he not a witness and i am( i have been my entire life) my parent found out and forbid me to see him and even told me to leave, i did leave for a day, but they called me back.
but they still hate that i have any contact with him...and we still want to get married.
not a dfing issue. BUT the elders may well try to discourage it. They may even try to weave into the conversation whether or not you beleive the FSD is God's channel of communication.....to see if your line of thinking is "apostate"

i hear and see this alot.....debates consisting of two sides picking and hurling scriptures at one another to back up their assertions and guesses...it usually goes nowhere but wastes time and energy that could be more productivily used.. problem being is...in the case of the dubs...they believe that they and their leaders/teachers alone are being granted divine understanding...and you are trying to convince them they do not understand the book they wrote, and what they were trying to say in it basically.
they are allowed to pick and choose what is to be taken literal and figurelative without opposition...and should you point this out..you are in effect calling their leaders and trusted teachers liars.

i have a pamphlet somewhere in this apartment that i cant seem to find, it deals with the nwt not consistenly rendering the logos, ho-theos, and theos.
they translate these words inconsistently as lord,jehovah,jesus, etc etc etc.. .
what i need to know are scriptures where these words arent rendered consistently.
read Heb 1:10-12- It is obviosuly the Father addressing the Son. Then go to cross reference Ps 102:25-7. Obviously a prayer to Jehovah. In Fact starting in verse 1 we see it is speaking of Jehovah, still in verse 12 it is of Jehovah. Verse 24 says "Oh my God..."
If the NWT was consistent Heb 1:10-12 would say "You at the beginning Oh Jehovah..." and we would have the Father addressing the Son with his own name
