Atheists, Why the Anger?

ok, so you deny the existence of a god, or you lack belief in a god.

my question why do you get so angry over a mythical being?

no one gets as upset over the tooth fairy, santa claus or the easter bunny, as i have seen some of the atheists on this board get over the slightest mention of god.

ok ... speaking as a believer, I think that the problem arises when either side asserts his/her view on others. Just for the record, I have disagreed with almost everything perry has said. I have found his comments to be offensive and dogmatic. Now, this being said, theists can disagree with each other just as much as they can with atheists. I have never had two athiests in the same room with me but I am sure there are atheists who disagree with one another as well. Every person has different morals, different values, different prioirities. One cannot genrealize atheists any more than one can genrealize theists.

i think dr perry cox from scrubs would be a brilliant presiding overseer.. dr. cox is sarcastic, unpleasant and narcissistic.

however, he is a very skilled doctor.

he would not care what the co said, would ignore the watchtower or governing body at will.

on the flip side,

most of the atheists I have encountered, (including some on this board, but I in no way try to speak for everyone), say that we are foolish for choosing to believe in God.

I do think it goes both ways. Unfortunately, both sides are guilty.

Hello everyone!

The last thing I want to do is start up an argument, but I have to just say that whoever wrote this completely made up a verse in the quran that does not exist. Sura 9:11 actually says: "But if they repent and accept Islam, perfom prayer, and give zakat, then they are your brethren in religion. In this way We explain the proofs in detail for a people who know."

Here it is from another translation: "If they turn to God, keep up the prayer, and pay the prescribed alms, then they are your brothers in faith: We make the messages clear for people who are willing to learn."

I just wanted to point that out so that no one believes it. If that part is made up, who knows how many other numbers in that list are made up. Kinda sad that someone would do that IMO.

The microsoft word thing was wierd.

Scary Maze

ok this is a very good game, this game gets pretty hard at each level, but it's pretty simple to play.. .

you run your mouse in the maze box, you do not want to touch the walls inside the maze.

you left click the mouse button and hold it until you reach the red square at the end of the maze, then let go of the mouse button and the red box will light up.

I got 'marked' once. The talk was SUPPOSED to be directed toward me and ALL my 'friends', and this is what I was told by the elders. So like a good little girl I went and sat at the meeting waiting patiently for the elder to get up and give his 'marking' talk. Funny, as soon as the elder was introduced to take the stage, ALL of my 'friends' got up and left, (except for one who was on a trip to bethel with the step son of one of the elders) leaving ME to be the ONLY 'young person' left sitting in the audience for the entire talk. As you can imagine, EVERY eye was on me, and although most of the talk was directed at the others, the entire congregation assumed I was the rotten apple. Turns out later, these 'friends' had teamed up with the elders and were tring to get me DF'd. (one of the elders broke down and admitted this about a year later)

This story is soooooo much more twisted and devious than I have presented it here in this short post. Remembering that whole period in my life makes me incredibly happy to be on te outside now. Those so-called 'friends' can KEEP their devious ways and their twisted tongues. I now see the entire process for what it is. The whole thing was unjustified and wrong, and only happened cuz I didn't have as much money as the other families. I never fit into the elder/pioneer clique and that's ok with me!

Sounds like a great letter diamondblue! I hope (yet sadly I doubt) that your letter meets with more consideration than mine did. I wrote one not too long ago to the society (on a different subject) and as others have suggested here, I got a form letter telling me to attend meetings and a visit from two elders in return. Never once did any of them even MENTION the issues I had raised in my letter. And come to find out, that's because they didn't even know the contents of my letter. They had been sent to me with NO KNOWLEDGE of WHY they were being sent to me!!!!
