Very few normal people off the street become J-dubs these days. People see the weirdness right away. Plus the schedule and the restrictions are outrageous.

Who in their right mind wants to become a JW?
by JH inmy neighbour across the street went to his 1st jw meeting yesterday.
he also went to the memorial last april.
he didn't go since.. coming back from his 1st meeting, he told me that he told the elders, that he will never wear a tie, and that he will never go out inthe field service, and that he wont go back to their meetings anymore because their meeting is right inthe middle of the afternoon on sundays....1pm to 3pm.

COLLEGE IS EVIL!!!!!
by why??? inhi everyone...this year i had to go to the district convention and with my newly opened mind...i sat there rolling my eyes the whole time...i was however very distrubed by a talk on higher education...im sure you all know of it...basically telling all of us outright that it was no good and we shouldnt be going...now i know they have done it in the past...but it seemed so blatant this year in your face...college is evil.....here's a related link .

This is very common. A young person leaves the organization. They go out have their fun. The problem is they left solely for reasons of the flesh. They do not examine fully the religion itself. They get older and more settled. The religion though irrelevant, reminds them of their youth. This may be the only religion that they now as the truth. They come back in. They make progress. It's maddening

The Current Sitatuation - The Society
by KW13 injust when you think the society couldn't get more oppressive, they prove you wrong.
there are lots of threads about the recent changes - the thing that really is a slap in the face for any witness who is considering their view of the organization, is the kingdom ministry which not only speaks against witnesses having sites (can't see those disappearing anytime soon) and they also want people to stop meeting together independently.. since when was this bible based?.
the bible says when two or three are gathered together that god will be among them, and many other scriptures speak against this teaching.. share your opinion on how this might help others wake up but please for me and others wanting to use this opportunity to have a discussion try and provide some scriptures along the way, they will be a great help!.

The bible says that Jesus had a kindly yoke and a light load. The Society isn't kindly or lightening anybody's load.
The bible says that Love would identify true Christians. The Society cares for no one--Not one homeless shelter or soup kitchen.
The bible says "Who really is the FaithFul an Discreet Slave." The Society says "We are" but I haven't heard God say that they are.
Know what the bible says for yourself and stay away from all religious snakes.

Would You Wear Religious Jewelry Comfortably Now???
by minimus inwould you honestly be comfortable to wear a cross, a crucifix or a religious medal of some sort?.

The cross has been so demonized by watchtower. I'm quite comfortable with the cross. I don't wear one, however I don't feel as if demons are going to invade my home because I have one laying around. I like the Catholic rosary. Just friends of mine who are J-Dubs would freak if the saw me with a Jesus piece.

I agree with the others. Debt is a problem. However the US Market is the world's biggest customer. As long as we have a currency system Japan and China and others will continue to by back US debt.
Japan is too small a country and has no choice. China is to large a country and has no choice. Both have precious few resources. Both need the US customer base. Look at what they put out. Japan the best cars. China the cheapest shit in the world.
The US market will rebound. The rich and or wise make money no matter what market does. A crash like back in 1932 is unlikely. The key is debt management. If you learn to manage your debt you will survive. If not you will crash and burn.
The housing bubble allowed alot to people to get rich. Unrealistic people should have understood that a $300,000 home cannot be had for $500.00 a month.
