is there any denial that at 1 kings 7:23, the value of pi is ascertained as 3.000?.

and where does this leave the idea that the bible is inspired in every word, jot, and tittle by god?

Was there evil before Adam sinned?

this question is specifically asked of jw-apologists, but anyone's response is greatly appreciated.. is all evil in the world the result of humankind's sin?.

the watchtower teaches that the earth is old (in agreement with science), but that humankind is young (6,000 years as of 1975).

since they wish to have an old earth however, it is necessary to say that each day of creation is longer than an actual day- various figures are given i believe.. i believe i am correct in saying that the logical conclusion must be that animals existed for a long time prior to the events in the garden of eden and the sinning of human beings.

Makes one wonder why "God" screwed up the animals, who did nothing at all wrong, huh?

Doesn't it also bother any Bible literalists that God told the first lie in the Garden of Eden? Doesn't it also bother those same literalists that God invented the first weapon of war (the flaming sword)? How in the hell were Adam and Eve to even KNOW what a sword was back then?

Question for gay people

the question is about the term "tolerance" or "tolerating".. when someone says something along the lines of "i'm very tolerant of gay people" or "gay people should be tolerated", how do you feel?.

the reason i ask is this: doesn't the concept of tolerating something imply a background negative?

for instance, i can say "i tolerate my brother-in-law".

: I have chosen to be disowned rather than simply tolerated. For me, being tolerated by someone who supposedly loves me is not enough.

The problem with you "demanding" to be accepted is simple. If one has to demand anything from anyone else, including respect and acceptance, the demandee does not give it willingly. People will either freely tolerate and love you for what you are and are not, or they won't. Tell the latter to go to hell and be done with them. Don't waste your time demanding anything of them.

just had dinner with my wife and a couple of her friends.. one of them was telling me about her sister-in-law, a very nice, kind person who i've met on several occasions.

it seems this sister got a job in an office as a receptionist/secretary.

last christmas (1999) her employer asked her to sign christmas cards for all the clients.

There were at least three editions of the "Harp" book and they dated from 1921 to the 1940's. Comparing those editions is quite revealing. Same book, same name, different edition, brand new crap.

The WTS is so kewl, someone should make a REAL movie out of their history. And Lies. At least five or six people might actually pay to watch it. If they could get matinee prices. On a weekday. Early in the morning. If they have free passes.

1975 never happened. It was all a lie started. Hell, 1975 wasn't even a YEAR. It went straight from 1974 to 1976. If you don't believe me, look at "Significant Dates" in the WTS publications. You won't find 1975 anywhere. 1925 never happened, either. Neither did 1914, 1918, or 1919. They were all illusions trumped up by people willing to destroy the good name and reputation of Jehovah's People(tm).

"Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God" wasn't a book. It was never published. Apostate lies. "The Truth That Leads to Eternal Life" wasn't a book. Apostate lies. There were no charts that pointed to 1975 in any of the publications of Jehovah's people. None. There was no mandatory program of six month Bible studies and no slogans put out by District Overseers like "Stay Alive 'Till '75" and "Make Do 'Til '72." None of that ever happened. Satan made people make all of that up. No Kingdom Ministry even mentioned what a "fine" thing it was to do to sell everything one had worked so hard for and pioneer in the few short months remaining before Armageddon in that era. There were no apologetics after the fact about how long Adam could have been around before Eve was made, either.

Heck, it just COULDN'T have been like that: that was 26 years ago and obviously nothing happened. Jehovah's people do not lie. They didn't lie about ANY of the dates they never set.

i remember at a book study the conductor saying something about ho simple everything was and that anyone of us could easily talk for a minute about our beliefs.. everybody froze of course and was hoping he wouldn't pick them.. no one could or wanted to do it even amongst each other !.

it's a sad indictment of the 'faith' isn't it.

i have a theory that 90% of jw's could not tell you what the current beliefs were.

'I Still Believe It's The Truth'!

we have heard that recently from two individuals.

one is a df'd sister,who works in a city centre dept.

store and another is a sister who has simply left the hall and moved to another address.

Maybe she thought she was asked to read it during her acts of adultery. THAT would take away all the fun and one could see why she was ticked off in that case!
