  When someone is DF....

  .....is it announced to everyone at the main meeting, or do they just not say anything?

  does the elder tell everyone why the jw is df?.

  In my area they used to do local needs parts about whatever the person was DF'd for the same night they made the announcement. Anyone else have this in their congregations or was it just a local gem?

  My first JW encounter at the door in ages...

  i am spending the week at my sons house in seattle to help him while recovering from knee surgery.

  i answered the doorbell and it was a young woman by herself.

  she read a scripture from james (can't remember) and offered me the a&w.

  Have you noticed that disfellowshipped Witnesses are treated differantly?

  my family does not speak to me.

  i have no problem with that as they are pains in the ass.

  but during my tenure as a jw, i noticed that differant families would treat their df'd members differantly, even if they didn't live in the same household, often inviting them over for dinner, etc.

  Yes, I was completely shunned while df'ed. No surprise there as that is the nature of "disfellowship". What got me was how I seemed to be permanently marked somehow. I humbly crawled back into the religion, accepting everything they said and jumping through all the hoops happily, really fervently believing the whole thing. But I was never fully, fully accepted into the inner circle again. I was that wierdo that had been disfellowshipped, never as worthy as the others. Very peeving at the time.

  This is what happened to me as well. You are never good enough once you have been stupid enough to have to be "disciplined." No matter what you do.

  I also liked Country Girl's point about the scripture in Timothy they use all the time to show how we are in the time of the end, because of "no natural affection", when it turns out that the JW's are the most guilty of this!

  I haven't had JW's knock on my door yet and I wish they would! But I don't know what I would say...

  What would be a good thing to say to get them thinking without making them run away in blind terror?

  I have thought that maybe saying something like "I've read a book that was written by someone on your governing body and have all the information I need from him, thank you." What do you think?

  People who would never have been born...if the WTBTS was right!

  i watched several movies this week, and afterwards, i was thinking about how many performers in those movies would never have been born if armageddon had come in the fall of 1975 as advertised.

  stardust featured clare danes and charlie cox, both born long since 1975. resident evil: extinction featured milla jovovitch, whose birthday is actually in december 1975, but it is likely that her parents would have already been dead by then, as they aren't witnesses.

  anyone else have favorite people (actors or not) who would not have been born if 1975 had lived up to the big buildup?

  I wouldn't have been born yet! And I am my favorite person (like I have a choice)!

  Also, Heath Ledger, who just tragically died, was born in 1979. He was one of my favorites.
