i have wondered this for awhile and can not figure out why.
any ideas?
apparently being liberal does not lead to an economic power house, but it does lead to a lot of hatred of the united states in these countries.
A few thoughts.
Europe is not one country.
Define "liberal". Socially liberal? Economically liberal?
Whatever "liberal" means, is it directly related to the economy?
However many times however many posters from European countries repeat that while they may or may not agree with all of the current US governments policies they do not "hate" America or Americans, some posters keep saying that Europeans hate America.
my mum is still technically a jw.
i say technically, cuz she has no intention of dying from boredom by going to a meeting.
so i'm cool with it.
I have to admit that when I do get some gossip about my old congregation, I take a prurient interest. Then I start to feel deflated that me leaving my husband one night and never coming back 12 years ago must be a long forgotten and very minor scandal now - my ex-brethren have outdone me in spades.
All in all, the behaviour of members of my old congregation can beat on the sleaze-o-meter anything I or my "worldly" friends have done hands down.
i invited my mom two months ago to my wedding.
she never responded and then today i get this.

I think your reply is very kind, maybe a little too gentle. I assume that you haven't excluded your father from giving you away, but he has excluded himself?
I am sure that you have already told your mother this, but I would spell out in your reply that you haven't left them, they are always welcome in your life, and that you certainly haven't left God. I like your comment about always praying for them.

The culture of the JW congregation is to belittle academic achievement. The training in the service meeting and ministry school is formulaic and does not encourage reasoning and critical thinking - probably why we are so bad at debating and most discussions on the board descend into ad hominem attacks.
Take a look at the spelling and grammar in an average post here by a JW. Sometimes they can't even spell their own jargon - congregation, annointed, baptism, brochure, tract, conscience - correctly.
can anyone come up with names of some famous people (dead or alive doesn't matter), respectable men (sorry ladies, but a bearded lady wouldn't help my case), who've grown beards or kept a moustache?

my right leg has had a little pain for about a week, but yesterday it began to hurt so bad i could hardly stand it.
i stood up straight and bent back alittle and felt my back hurt, evidently the nerve is being pinched.
don't know whether to go to a doc or wait a while to see if it gets better.
I believe an osteopath could put you right.
its getting frighteningly windy here.
at the moment it is between 50 and 60mph but for rush hour in two hours time it is predicted to get up to 80mph gusts here.. outside one of my director's has just had a branch blow into his jaguar rear screen smashing it.
our 20 story building a few doors away is beuing evacuated because sheets of glass are blowing in!.
It's very gusty here, but no serious damage so far - just fence panels blown in, and a few ridge tiles missing from our neighbours' houses.

i think when my time comes i may be there.
a part of me says "sod 'em", but another part wants them to see how happy i am.. hmmm, not sure..
I didn't attend a JC, and I wasn't there when they made the announcement.
I was already gone.
i know this question has been asked before, but i can't find the old post about this.
i am looking for another area of the us to move to.
