  Scream when Raped...

  thought i'd bring this up again, i found it on the watchtower library and thought it was extremely annoying how they can say rubbish like this.. rape has become increasingly common today.

  a major reason seems obvious.

  sex and violence explode from tv and movie screens, from radio, newspapers, magazines and billboards.

  That is horrible! Infuriating!

  I recall reading an awake or watchtower(can't remember) that told the story about a woman that was attacked and screamed "jehovah!" over and over. The guy took off. As if the name jehovah is a magical charm that will protect you from harm...it couldn't be the fact that she was screaming huh?

  I hate the blame the victim tone of this article. If a woman acts like shes had sex, that makes her a target for rape? What!? They include displays of affection in this. What displays? Holding hands?

  I don't find fault with telling a women to scream or fight back (because it can protect you) but with the attitude of if she doesn't scream, then she consented. That is bullsh!t. She might have been frozen in terror. I can't imagine having to go through that accusation after being raped.

  Does the news still scare anyone else?

  i was just wondering how many of you still get a quezy feeling in your stomach after hearing someone on the news use the phrase "peace and security" or after reports on the news of all the large earthquakes that have been reported this last week or so?

  i know we can all rationalize that there are always earthquakes and wars etc.... but i swear, no matter how hard i try to shake the sick feeling in my stomach when i hear all this stuff i can't seem to do it.

  i still have visions in my head of what armagedon will be like from all the pictures i grew up seeing in the publications, talk about scarred for life.

  Not anymore. It did take a while to get past that fear though. I do get disturbed by south florida news; not because I am afraid of the end, but because there is so much crime and car accidents there. Tallahassee news is so much more mellow. South florida news is also greatly sensationalized...esp. channel 7, anyone who lives down there knows what I mean.

  I suggest reading up on history like everyone else suggested. I would also try to avoid watching it for a while, or at least find a more balanced, less sensationalized news source.

  Experiences at the meetings

  since i still go to meetings i am going to post some thoughts about what i see and hear to refresh apostate memories of what glorious experiences you are missing out on these days.

  yesterday we had the book study, the boredom of the study itself was only alleviated by two incidents, one sad and the other strange.... there is a sister who is bi-polar and comes infrequently who was there.

  she was called to give an answer and started crying into the microphone.

  There is a sister who is bi-polar and comes infrequently who was there. She was called to give an answer and started crying into the microphone. The roving mike brother was about to tackle her to get the audio device back but the conductor indicated for her to continue unhindered. Finally she struggled out the comment that: "If we are good Jehovah won't destroy us" and handed it back.

  That is so sad. Poor lady, I can imagine how badly she feels.

  R.F'S MUM JUST HAD EMERGENCY SURGERY

  i just spoke to r.f.

  he told me his mum was rushed to hospital early yesterday morning in a great deal of pain.

  she subsequently had emergency surgery and is now in intensive care.

  You have friends here. You are not alone. Myself and many others on this board have been in your situation. I am disfellowshipped too. It hurts tremendously, but it does get better. You may feel like you wasted your life as a witness, but you got out. You can start over. We will be here for you, to listen, to advise, and to be your friend.

  It might be easier to dress modestly. Think about it, there is always admonitions against slits in skirts (which a lot of skirts have), too short dresses and skirts, etc. Not to mention not having to worry about someone peeping up your dress as you walk up the bleachers at the DC. Or the wind blowing your skirt up during service. I know the brothers are told to dress like whatever the buisness standard is in the area, but what about the women? Most professional women I see are NOT wearing dresses. Esp. not long flowy flowery dresses! They wear dress pants/button down shirt/ jackets. Most witness women I see dress like conservative southern baptists, esp. the older ones. Does anyone else agree?
