i've been an ex-jw for a few years now and can't seem to remember a lot of them.

Help! - Need Work Ideas for My 13 Year Old Daughter

my daughter is getting to the age where she recognizes a need to make some summertime money.

she wants to buy a new cell phone and a few other things, and wants to earn the money herself.

i own a small business, and i would have her help me around the office but there isn't much for her to do.

My daughter got a summer job thru our county doing landscaping at a park when she was 14. It was called 'tree trust' and she had a blast and earned some dough.

I Can't Believe it! I got DF'ed!

Well, I ain't out of the game quite yet.

But it does kinda gall me. I mean, to be DF'ed by folks who were NEVER JW'S!

The knowledge that I am so hated for made up crap...

See, here's how it works;

HH and DF sit around working themselves into a lather about what a jerk and an ass I am, and building what I like to refer to as the 'Straw Dave.'

Straw Dave is an extension of their hate, rage, ignorance, and fear which bears no actual resemblance to the 'real Dave' but allows them to place blame on him for every imagined potential offense as if it had already occurred.

So when Tofu calls, he is often upset by things he thought I would say, and then quickly deflates when I fail to play the Straw Dave role.

After he deflates, I can often relate to him as an equal, and have reasonable discourse, but when the subject comes around to anything involving HH his shields go up. And If I have any useful suggestions, he actually wants me to help him strategize how to introduce it as coming from anyplace but me so it will have a chance of being liked by HH.

We say our goodbyes, and I know he will re-inflate the Straw Dave as soon as HH notices it has been deflated. It's the 'company line' and he has to toe it if he wants to stay in her little world.

The parallels with how active JW's treat df'ed people are striking. IF they talk with any, and get past the dehumanization, they can be congenial. But they have to reconstruct the straw man in order to relate once they are back among dubs.

What changed most recently was that the Straw Dave resisted my attempts at puncture and will likely keep on growing until it pops of it's own accord. The allegation HH made about me keeps surfacing and if it were true, I would be a dangerous awful person, but if it's not.... She's a liar. Easier for him to get laid with me being awful, I guess.

In Re the truck, the oil is being monitored for signs of antifreeze. diagnostics have been scheduled. I aint messing around and taking chances, in it goes!

early in the week my wife started corresponding with one of her old friends.

he is no longer a witness and while i'm not sure what the catalyst was they started talking about why he left the witnesses.

You Need To Give Credit To The Society For Your Education

you need to give credit to the society for your education.the watchtower and awake magazines have been helping individuals receive a g.e.d .

or high school diploma.

Hey now,

My daughter is home-schooled and is quite accomplished. Let's not bash home-schooling.

As for credit to the WTS for my education, that is patently absurd! They write at an eighth grade level, and poorly by THAT standard! They seek to socially and intellectually retard the development of their often unwitting victims to ensure they lack the ability to break free.

Anything of value I ever learned or accomplished was IN SPITE OF the abusive and demeaning 'education' I received from the Witchtower Babble and Trick Society

if you guys remember some of the previous conversations i have posted between us, she is heavily indoctrinated with every facet of watchtower world.

lately, we've been talking about her serious relationship with a non-witness.

he tried studying, but just couldn't agree to go along with the wackiness.

who am i, well i'm the middle child of my parents, who are ex jw's, so i'm not sure if that makes me one since they stopped attending jw occasions when i was 11, but having experienced being part of it, and having not enjoyed it i can say i class myself as an ex-jw.

I had no idea there were people who felt like me

i've recently begun challenging my beliefs.

all my beliefs, including those ingrained in me as one raised "in the truth".. a few years ago i sought therapy for chronic depression and my treatment was remarkably successful.

as a side effect, things that used to "work" for me no longer fit with the new emotional pathways and strengths i was developing.
