Oh my God that was amazing!
I admired the logical flow, the order and manner in which you developed your theme...
You hit it all, and did it without rambling, repeating, or over doing it.
That's no small feat!
I'll be saving a copy of this against further need myself.
I am in awe of this masterpiece, if she truly DOES read it all, it WILL plant seeds od reason within her.
God bless you for creating this momentous treatise on why one would leave, and why they should NOT be shunned for doing so.

Good Going, R.F!
I am truly glad to hear that you managed it so well, it could have gone so much worse.
Breathe deep that sweet smelling air of freedom, just bask in the hope for the future you have found where you had been told no hope existed at all, and move forward towards life that matters.
Always do your best, always improve, always do the right thing, and you can't help but do well.
God Bless,

Lovers of Hate
by Farkel inany rational person knows that hatred is probably the most destructive human emotion of all.
billions of people have died and suffered as a result of it.
why, then would a supposedly divine, loving and perfect god set the worst kind of example for weak humans by practicing hatred himself and wanting humans to follow his creepy example?.
-

Excellent points, Farkel.
It can be hard to hate the deeds, but not the person, but it's the right thing to do.
When I see someone acting in such a way that I would be inclined to hate them, I just remind myself that Jesus died as much for them as for me, and I know I haven't always been exemplary.
Hell, in a lot of ways I'm anything but!
Reminding myself of this helps not to hate, and helps us stat humble.
From your references, it is plain to see that the leadership of the Borg allow themselves the dubious privilege of hating and inciting hate, very bad juju, that.
Thank you for your post, very thought provoking.

Brilliant book on Brainwashing
by jwfacts ini recently finished the book brainwashing - the science of thought control by kathleen taylor (oxford university press inc., new york, 2004).
this presents an excellent summary of current research into the biology and psychology of the brain and identifies how organizations use this for the purposes of control.
it discusses well known research such as by lifton and festinger, but also goes into a lot of scientific research into the biology of the brain.

Is there any good?
by passwordprotected inmy wife says that, while she can see the negative stuff, the good outweighs the bad.
anyone else feel like this?

For it to be really 'good' it would have to benefit you even if you left, and I know of no 'good' in the WTS that is of any use outside the WTS that can't be gotten much easier outside the WTS.
If you are determined to stay 'in' you can find some things you may think are good, but it comes at the cost of your freedom, conscience, relationship with God, dignity, honesty, and often your family.
Being 'in' I learned a lot of things.
How to be an obnoxious public speaker, ignoring bad academic references and objections, how to defend lies using the scriptures, how to stop my own thought process before it goes far enough to cause dissonance, that the leadership of my group was synonymous with God himself, how to 'study' by regurgitating what is is the paragraph, how to treat others like solid-waste and justify it fron a pseudo-bible... Oh, and I learned a semblance of moral behavior.
Since I have come out, NONE of this has been of any service to me whatsoever!
Maybe this is purely anecdotal, but I think ex JW's are far more likely to be atheists than the population as a whole, so if this is an accurate statement, it can be said they are turning people away from God.
I know that I certainly had never been properly introduced to God during my time in the Spiritual Charnal House and could easily have missed out if I had not sought Him.
The much vaunted 'learning' I received within the wanktower was in relation to THEIR doctrine using THEIR interpretation of THEIR 'bible' and was a total wash. I have had to start over at a disadvantage as I have had to unlearn a bunch of garbage before I can even start fresh!
The 'moral behavior' could have been learned better from the Bible itself without all the weasely 'outs' the WTS permits, like ignoring child abuse because there is only one witness, lying with sanction, treating others like filth because THEY say so...
I can understand that she wants to believe this, and she sounds like a very sincere person, but it is just her way of stopping her thought process before reaching a point of dissonance.
They are self-policing.

Hmm, St Paddy was an Irishman, has anyone thought about whether those 'snakes' he chased off were pink and purple polka dotted?
And what I want to know is why didn't he get credit for chasing off all the pink elephants too?

The Hope For Our Dying Home-Earth...An Inconvenient Truth
by justhuman inyesterday it was the day of the global inviroment.
as i walked to the street going to work, the main square of the capitol was filled with small children and their teachers with huge paintings, songs, art work with recycled elements demanding a cleaner plannet.
when the old generation will pass those little ones that will take in charge with all the inviromental education they had they will go for a better world.i'm sure about it, you could see it in their small eyes.

CONGRATS!
What a wonderful thing a baby is!
The whole world is shiny and new through their eyes, and lucky us, I swear some of it rubs off on us.
Babies are so generous with their youth, it feels like they share it with us by making us feel young again.
The service is especially valueable to the grans and great grans.
Hug that baby thoroughly so that young can rub off, and go kick up your heels,

Article in Upcoming watchtower for oompa
by metaspy inthat's right oompa, they heard you at bethel and now they have a 5 page article in the aug 1, 2008 watchtower.

so there you have it oompa, your very own article.. i believe it is entitled "questions from oompa: should the name jehovah be in the new testament?".
