  does that mean that they would not be baptised in water thereafter?

  I don't think Forscher's comment was stupid at all, and his race matters because it's the only reason many of his supporters are probably even voting for the idiot.
  
  I find it amazing that he and his supporters would like to declare everything about him off-limits for critical examination.
  
  I hate all three candidates, but I think Obama is the worst of the lot.
  
  They all stink on ice though.

  how far we've come in just the last ten years.. just ten short years ago, the term jw "apostate" still carried a stigma of held-over shame to most ex-jws and they rarely called themselves by that term.

  i wore that badge proudly, but i had already been out of the wts for over 20 years by then.

  slowly, but steadily the term went from shame to neutral to a badge of honor!

  I came up with Crusty Codgers from Crooklyn, but someone else came up with the Serve-Us meeting.
  
  Failed Misery, Wanktower, litter-a-trash, New Lite - much less filling that real truth, but no flavor.
  
  Control tower, I can't think of many more.

  So when do you go to bed at night....(for sleep!)

  for some strange reason i can not get to sleep this past week or so.....i am talking watch news, watch letterman, conan, the englishter..oh and usually on jwd a bunch too...and still up til 2:00 or 2:30 est...... so when do you usually turn in?..........oompa.

  I usually hit the hay around 3 or 4 AM, but that's usually to keep the hay from hitting ME.
  
  I'm a night-owl in a big way, but I'm up the next day in time for Rush Limbaugh, so it's all good.
  
  I like yakking on the phone late late at night, but don't have too many people I can feel right calling at 1AM.
  
  I'll think, "hey, I wanna talk to so and so!" but then look at the clock and see THAT ain't happening.
  
  So I pour another drink and find something else to do.

  Children Who Leave Always Come Back to the Society

  i heard this in a car group one day.

  a young single mother said she always heard that growing up.

  when she left she was adamant she would never be back, and now here she was.. is this true for the most part?.

  I was raised in, well "in the vicinity of" since they would never dunk me.
  
  I know I will go back to the KH one day.
  
  But, only for my mom's funeral, and I'll have the extra-loud cat-back pipes on my apostatruck by then.
  
  And I'll be getting the hell outta there as soon as I've shown mom my respects, not stating one second longer.
  
  I SURE ain't drinking any of the refreshments!

  Elder in my old hall is DFed – wow!

  i ran into an old friend spontaneously over the weekend.

  (one of the few jws i actually considered a friend back in the day).

  we were briefly catching up and she mentioned an elder in my old hall is now dfed.

  If daddy hadn't come busting in and broke the husband's face, how could daughter have REALLY believed it was safe to standup against the hubby?
  
  hese abusers mess with your head, they make you feel like you have no other place to go and here was dad at the door, but she was DF'd and probably felt she had no right to expect her dad to support her.
  
  Sad, but thats what happens when cult-think intersects with abuser mind-boink.
  
  So daddy calls the cops, wife tidies up, and still under the power of a man who has NOT been beaten down in front of her, says she walked into a door.
  
  They always do.
  
  At least until they are on Fox news, missing, that is.
  
  As a dad, i would take no chances that this guy could hang on to her, I'd take him down.

  Major Milestone

  a couple of weeks ago i went on a school trip with my sons school.

  it was held in an sports arena.

  while sitting there looking at all the kids filing in and filling up the seats, my mind went to all the conventions i attended in similar venues.

  That story made my blood boil!
  
  I can picture it all too well, and if it had been me, they never would have found that asshole.
  
  I readily admit that I don't handle that stuff well, demons of my past and all.
  
  I have a code word with my daughter only she and I know that means "I am in harms way and being prevented from telling you openly"
  
  It's my cue to cave in the face of whomever she's with.
  
  Man, that got me boiling, I swear to God, that guy would have died right there if it had been me and I saw him hurting my little girl.

  How many of us remember the Jonestown massacre?

  by that i meant - how many remember being an active jw when this happened?.

  what was the general reaction from the rank & file, the elders, even the co/do?

  does anybody remember there being magazine articles on this?.

  I was a little kid, and unaware it had happened and my older brother DF came in and asked my if I wanted to buy some land in Guyana, good for farming because it's pre-fertilized.
  
  I was puzzled, and mom elbowed him and said that it wasn't funny. I found out later what the story was and was horrified.
  
  I am not sure if he was demeaning the victims for being members of a competing cult, or being stupid, or for the idea that predominated our area that the victims were mostly black.
  
  With him, it could have been any or all of those things that made them so dehumanized that he felt free to walk around saying the most demeaning and horrible things about them, all the while being in a cult HIMSELF!
