yes, a long long time ago my grandmother, freshly immigrated from post-war england to rural australia, waiting for months for her husband to follow, with only her baby for company, heard a knock at the door.
she opened it and there were two witnesses, who, after hearing how she'd just been crying in the kitchen, begging god for a friend, probably couldn't have believed their luck.

To answer your question, yes. Former born-in myself, my grandmother heard that knock at the door under very similar circumstances. She bought the family into the cult, I was the last surviving member when I decided to exit back in the late 90's.
I've often wondered what would have happened had she not converted to the JW's. I used to fanticise during the meetings that my family had never known the "truth". It got me through some pretty mind numbing times.
since the wt with its doctrines past and present is discredited, is there an entity that can be shown to be the latter- day "-----pillar and support of truth---" paul was writing about at i tim 3:15.?
have the believers or non-theists or exjws an equivalent at all ?
because humans like to huddle around the fire for the radiant heat.
Who says you need an organisation or pre-set of rules as pillar of support? To me, the best one is yourself and how you find it is up to you as an invidual... whether it's atheism, Jesus, the bible etc... find your own values, what makes sense to you and be free as nothing more than the real you.

Green Day... definitely number one. They most likely will be touring in Oz next year and I'm only an hours train ride from Melbourne now... no plane needed so it's looking highly likely I will be actually seeing them live next year.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. I really do believe the apologists that come here trying to convince us all the Watchtower is right do their cause more harm than good. Especially to someone who might come here to find out more about the Jehovah's Witnesses and isn't familiar with their teachings and hasn't been indoctrinated. Face it... they're arguments are not logical and it has to scream "CULT!" to those people especially.
I also believe this is a secondary reason as to why the Watchtower demonises the internet in the first place.

My mother had a ginger and white cat named Kitty when I was a child. Male (of course), and naturally, quite large and heavy. Total grump around other animals, but complete loving sook with humans. He knew where his food came from. 
He used to lie on my bed when I got sick with cold, flus, ear infections etc (which was quite frequent). I'd wake up a few times a night with a cat in my face. Then he'd lie next to me and purr me back to sleep.
He also used to growl at the milk man. Remember waking up to his growls, looking outside and seeing the milk man pissing himself laughing at this growling cat.
I stll miss that cat.

i had not even learned windows 7 yet.
i was on the phone for > half a day trying it get my new netgear modum going.
It would make a lot more sense that way Satanus. Like I said earlier, Apple did it much better... the commands and interface on their systems are very much similar to their iOS. They successfully made good use of the keyboard/mouse combo and if you can operate an iPhone (or Android smartphone for that matter) you won't have any problems learning how to use a Mac.
Windows 8 just felt too clunky and like a big step backwards as far as the interface goes. Which is a shame as the OS itself (ie performance & reliability) is actually quite good.

I bought two computers this year (switched from Macs back to Windows, both a notebook and a desktop) and both systems are eligible for the $14.99 upgrade to Windows 8. Tried it on the notebook. Performance wise I found it to be on par with Win7... but the interface was something I just couldn't get used to. If it's supposed to be in response to Apple's integration of their OSX & iOS operating systems they fail miserably... the OSX is much simpler to navigate around... and much more user friendly (the swipe ability on the Apple cordless scroll mouse alone was pretty awesome I must say ). Wouldn't be entirely surprised if Win 8 turns out to be another ME/Vista..
Gone back to Win7 on the notebook... will probably still purchase the Win8 license for the desktop... in case I need to upgrade at a later stage. 
i'm talking about dating methods that scientists use such as carbon 14, potassium-argon, rehydoxylation dating, etc.... .
i know that many christian fundamentalist groups speak of how false early dates can be reached by many of these dating systems.
but i was wondering how much the wt rejects them.
Yeah... they use the 'well only God knows so no method can be proven 100% accurate' excuse quite a bit which allows them to discredit anything that dosen't fit in with their picture much more easily. That line as well as any conflicts within the scientific community... find those that works best with them and presto! there's your "proof".
