My guess is Finallysomepride evolved into a monkey soon after moving to Queensland. All the crocs and then those banana trees to climb... pretty self explainatory. Even though he is in Brisbane I still say it fits.

1975 - A weak argument?
by Christ Alone ini posted this on an older thread, but i wanted to get an honest opinion about this from all of you.
i think taking the 1975 approach with a jw is...weak.
was it wrong (and false prophetic) of them?
-
brinjen
See... this is the part I don't get. They thought 1975 would be the year as it supposedly marked the start of the 7th millenium since the earth was created. So by rights, it's Jehovah's day off, and they thought that would be an appropriate time for Satan and his demons to be locked up while Jehovah got caught up on the footy and drank a few beers his Watchtower studies.
So if it is Jah's day off... wouldn't that delay armageddon until 2975 at least? Obviously that won't work for them... no "end is near" crap to peddle. So where would that leave their 1 day = 1,000 years spin seeing as this is an essential requirement for "calculating" the 1914 date also? They lay so many traps for themselves without realising, no wonder it's always "wait on Jehovah".

Hi new22day and welcome!
Sorry to hear of your experience of dating a JW. Unfortunately, that's often how it ends. My dad found out the hard way when my mother left him to go back 2 years after I was born. She pretended she was just visiting her mother a few thousand km's away and then never went back to him... just cut him off.
It's an upbringing which screws with your values that's for sure. One point that really stuck with me when I was reading the book 'I'm Perfect, You're Doomed' by Kyria Abrahams (also raised as a JW) was when she talked about not seeing any difference between sleeping with her best friend's husband and eating a slice of birthday cake. She saw them both as 'sin' and all sin is equally bad. To them, it's all about pleasing Jehovah and not thinking of the impact their actions have upon those around them.
They like to isolate their members... for them it's all about that personal relationship with Jehovah and being ready to turn on your own family at a moment's notice if they are doing the wrong thing in fear of having Jehovah kill you come armageddon if you don't. This loyalty to Jehovah always comes first... it's more important to them than the family bond.
I hope you can start to make sense of this soon, and do please realise you probably are better off. It's not going to feel that way though.

JW tour bus crashes in Florida, with fatalities-
by moshe inmiami - a bus carrying 32 members of a church group hit a concrete overpass at miami international airport after the driver got lost, killing two elderly people on board and leaving three others critically injured, officials said saturday.. the large, white bus was too tall for the 8-foot-6-inch entrance to the arrivals area, said airport spokesman greg chin.
buses are supposed to go through the departures area, which has a higher ceiling, he said.. chin said the passengers told him they were part of a group of jehovah's witnesses headed to west palm beach.
police said in a news release that the group had chartered the bus to take them to a church convention there-.

I gotta agree with James Woods here. Not at all attacking the JW's but at the same time it sounds like whoever organised this tour bus didn't properly think the details through... tragic.

Two blondes on a 4 hour flight travelling between whatever destinations you like. The plane takes off smoothly and in no time they are happily chatting about fashion, their confusion of the latest blonde jokes etc when they hear what sounds like an explosion... Moments later the pilot can be heard over the PA...
"Ladies and gentlemen, we have just lost an engine. Not to worry, these things happen all the time and we still have 3 left. We may be slightly delayed with our arrival time however, we trust that you will sit back and enjoy the rest of your flight, thank you."
The blondes look at each other, shrug their shoulders and continue chatting. A while later another explosion is heard and again the pilot is on the PA.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it appears we have lost a second engine. Not to worry, the last 2 are holding up strong. Unfortunately, this will most definitely delay our arrival time by 30 minutes. We thank you for flying with us and we trust you will continue to sit back and enjoy the rest of your flight."
The blondes look at each other, roll their eyes, shrug their shoulders and continue chatting. A while later yet another explosion is heard and once again the pilot is on the PA.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we have lost the third engine. I know this sounds serious however the remaining engine will not break down and will ensure we arrive safely at our destination which unfortunately will be at least an hour later than scheduled. We appreciate you flying with us, please sit back and enjoy the rest of the flight."
The blondes stare at each other for a moment... then one speaks.
"I hope that last engine dosen't fail" says one.
"Tell me about it" replies the other. "If it does we'll be stuck up here forever."

Hi Skygreen!
Fellow Aussie here. Born in, left in the late 90's, found out the 'truth about the truth' around 6 years ago.
Wishing you the very best with your fade.
