YES.
WT goes to the extreme to by majoring in minor stuff.
Straining out the gnat, but gulping down the camel ...
Disregarding the weightier things of the law, namely, justice and mercy ...
YES. Extremist.

okay, i keep reading something and though jw's do not get involved in national wars, my experience has always been they are very violent people.
every convention i have ever been to was filled with children being beat within an inch of their lives for just not being able to take a third day of mind-droning silence without being able to move or now even sleep.
i have seen whole congregations laugh at stories of children being beaten and calling out to "jehovah".
I wholeheartedly agree with with the above posters.
This brings to mind something that happened when the JW lady who studied with me was driving down a narrow road to the KH.
A group of young teenagers who were riding their bikes kept zigzagging.across the road in front of her.
They were laughing and hollering as young people often do, not meaning any harm.
This lady, wife of a prominent elder, became so upset at them, blowing her horn and muttering, "That's why Jehovah is going to destroy y'all!"
I remember thinking, is it that serious?
Just one of the many little things that set off warning signals that I should have heeded.

i was thinking about this.... in my congregation, i was literally the only one with universitary education, out of a cong from around 110 people.... and we're very close to a very big university, which makes it even weirder.. on the other hand... sooo many here with their own business, mostly small cleaning businesses.
cleaning windows, or cleaning somewhere else... painters.... all have jobs that do not require any education level, cos they never had a decent education.. how is the composition of the jw people/congs that you know about?.
how many painters... cleaners... compared to people with jobs that require higher education?.
Roll, Tide, Roll!
I hate saying that.
Usually I root for Auburn, but, alas, there seems no cause as of now.
Way back in '71, I was accepted at the U of A, but didn't get to go,
So, I have a teeny bit of affinity for the school.
Plus, Julio Jones made us all proud.
I'm really honored to interact with you; I daresay I believe we could split a watermelon together.

Now, SGWC, you've got me howling!
You, my man, are one funny dude.
I'm getting ready to watch the Crimson Tide show its stuff.
2:00 pm on ESPN.

greetings, my aging friends:.
it's not really a funny subject, our getting old and our bodies falling apart.
sure, as the saying goes, hard work won't kill you, but it can wear out your body.

last night at the meeting, a local needs talk preempted the regularly scheduled part.
an elder who is the most society following elder talked about loving god and then he talked about bible principles such as marry only in the lord.
he talked of deut.
You make some good points in your argument, Divergent.
WT just needs to give it up and bow out gracefully.

LOL.
What can I say?
I've just finished giving my bathtub a thorough scrubbing, and am thinking about a spot of tea.
The younguns are all grown and gone now - literally and figuratively.
I find early morn a good time to commune with the Spirit.
Love you, CoCo.
But, of course you know that.

@SGWC
My daughter attended a very good university here in Alabama - majored in Accounting.
Yep.
My nephew attended Harvard - PhD in Education.
Yep.
Both are still active JW's.
Yep.
LOL.

We were a family of sharecroppers; all eight of us sisters suffer/ed from some form of joint and back pain.
Dragging a heavy sack of cotton all day during cotton pickin' time took a toll on our developing bodies.
So, I feel for you, my good man.
I think it's one of those situations where either you wear it out, or it wears you out.
Blessings.
